Lot of people counting Faber out in this one for some reason, I'm really not sure why, it's competitive at the very least. Only Aldo has been able to totally dominate Faber in recent years.
Barao did dominate him but I watched that fight and im not impressed with Barao's skills with his hands they where pretty bad. Faber has been looking like a beast with his boxing especially agianst Bowles a fight which people seemed to not even know happened for some reason. In that one aspect I give Urijah an advantage.
Barao will have a lot more to think about when fighting Faber , I'm not sure anybody is definitively stating Faber will win comfortably , i think the consensus is that Faber is more well rounded , therefore he will decision Barao , personally i think Barao will fold under the pressure and pace Faber sets when he includes wrestling in his attacks , but thats just my opinion , with striking such as Barao's , he's capable of knocking anybody in the world out , including Faber !!! Jorgensen is not a yard stick for Faber
Barao has poise , and when he lets a combination go he seems to be in perfect range and stood at the perfect angle for any specific shot / combo he throws , he's a dangerous striker Faber's boxing has come on leaps and bounds in the last 12 months , he is an excellent striker , but this is another fight where he's going to have to keep his hands tight in defence , Faber is a wrestler who's developed a striking game , Barao is a striker , there will always be a gulf in class in the striking department between the 2 , but Faber's striking for MMA has improved to the point where i believe that if he can stay tight and give Barao nothing free , he may well pick him apart if he mixes up his attacks Faber is too good a fighter to just exchange with Barao on the feet in a one dimensional attack , he will attack Barao with every tool he has
I agree, it just felt that Barao was being marked down because he didnt finish Jorgensen, which is no easy task. I guess I cant get the picture of Fabers leg, after the Aldo fight, out of my head (no homo). I appreciate Barao is not as formidable as Aldo, but I have a feeling there will be a similar outcome.
Finishing Jorgensen is no easy task your right about that. That man is very tough and is a tough out for all Bantamweight fighters. What I mentioned though is after going back and watching the fight im just not that impressed with Barao's hands although I am with his kicks. You look at how Faber has been improving the last few years with his boxing up to his last fight where he nearly took Brian Bowles head off which nobody has ever done. I just was seeing a clear advantage in the boxing for Urijah but of course he does have to get past those kicks. Urijah is an intelligent, hard working fighter and im sure he has learned something since that Aldo fight.
