only thing slick about Robinson was his hair style.he was a str8 up and down fighter who lost in his prime to a bum named Lamotta.**** outta here.Baldomir would have beat the hell out of Lamotta who in this era would have been a poor mans Gatti

Cotto was done after 9 rounds.

How is his conditioning superior to Robinson or guys that fought in that era, who showed no drop in work rate compared to those of today, but managed to fight 15 rounds?

Additionally, Ray Robinson could knock you out in any part of the fight, early or late.

So he still retained his KO power throughout the fight, so I don't understand how you can say modern conditioning is so superior, when guys today can barely fight 12 rounds.

Lamotta has excellent aggressive defense. In his prime, he had some of the best in his era.

You don't see guys today with that type of style. They walk in with a high guard like Cotto, and a fighter can easily split the guard or loop punches around it.

It would be much harder to do that against Lamotta, who also unlike Cotto, can fight 15 rounds.

Cotto is basically done by the 10th round.

Honestly, boxing has regressed in skills. There are few fighters that have the skillset to compete in any era, and Floyd is avoiding two of them.

    IE, Pacquaio and Martinez.

SSR had what 175 fights? Lost 17. People forget, he took on everybody at different weights. How can you possibly claim FM is a better fighter? Not even close!

What seperates guys like Lamotta from Cotto is not only their conditioning, but the fact that they actually moved their head.

I agree that people have a tendency to create superheros out of legends of the past....

    SRR could win two ways.

Mayweather has never gone up against a guy like SRR who has the reach and the speed to box Mayweather from the outside.

He could very well force Mayweather to be the aggressor, which would make him much more vulnerable than he is when his typically, undersized opponent, is going after him.

This will be the first time when Mayweather is overmatched with size, by a guy that actually has counterpunching ability and boxer's skillset.

So, if Mayweather goes after SRR he could get knocked out at any time during the fight. SRR has the speed, the explosiveness, the reach, the one punch KO power, and the combination punching ability to make Mayweather hesitant to do anything but be defensive.

And even then Robinson has the reach, the speed and explosiveness, to cautiously attack Mayweather on the ropes, landing punches, and then quickly getting out of the way before Mayweather can reach him with a counter of his own.

This may force Mayweather to have to be on the aggressive, making him far more vulnerable.

If Robinsion decides to press the fight and attack Mayweather visciously against the ropes, Robinson has a number of devestating knockouts against much bigger opponents who were covering up against the ropes.

Robinson has it all. This is the worst possible matchup for Mayweather.

I'll believe it when I see it. Mayweather isn't about taking risks. He approaches boxing like a risk averse business man.

He won't fight the best, to prove he's the best.
