Keep blaming the catchweight, not like his whole gameplan changed as soon as Manny knocked him down the second time or anything. Nope, nope.

That's where the new trainer would be useful, in minimizing the openings for Pac... but it doesn't matter, the fight won't happen again and Pacquiao deserves full credit for the victory and most definitely the benefit of any doubt regarding a rematch between the two.

That second knock down stunned Cotto's soul :-(

The uppercuts will still land flush and will still KD Cotto and will still result to Cotto backpedalling all night and Pac growing increasingly relentless as the rounds mature.
Floyd has proven that Cotto is blind to uppercuts.

I don't know why until now, ESB is in denial that "styles make fights" and Pac is simply all wrong for Cotto, as is any converted southpaw fighter (same way I believe even a prime Oscar will be beaten on the cards by Pac).

a trainer would only help to a degree. remember that cotto was jabbing with pac during the first round and actually won according to the official judges. that until pac adjusted and tried to lure cotto into a firefight. pac, covered-up (roach doesn't approve of this at the time) and let cotto be into offensive mode. when cotto was comfortable enough, pac gladly oblige and knock cotto down once in the 3rd and once in the 4th that completely took the will out of cotto to fight.

Small changes can have big results, but nobody is arguing over who actually wins a rematch, very few people would give Cotto a chance, especially after seeing the first fight.

Pac wouldn't even fight him at 147 let alone 154.

    We'll never know.

Remember, Cotto is a HUGE Jr Middleweight.

    He's ****IN GIANT.

He's probably the biggest Jr. Middleweight in the SPORT.

No way, a HUGE ****in Jr. Middleweight that should be a MIDDLEWEIGHT could make 147.

    NO WAY.

And Mayweather was just as big, so he should have no problem defending his title.

i actually give cotto a bigger chance now, not because he is bigger , older or has a trainer, but i feel that pac is slipping. but the pac that fought cotto then, i would feel that cotto would be having problems even todays version.

All I know is Pacquiao, Roach and Arum told us Dlh was formidable, but that Pacquiao had no problem fighting Dlh at 147. When it came to Cotto though, they asked Cotto to come in at 143 lbs-who eventually fought Pacquiao at 145 lbs (because Cotto wanted a pay day). Why? Pac fought Dlh at 147, but fought Cotto at 145.

Simply citing the catchweight as a reason on why Cotto would beat Pac in a rematch at 54 doesn't address the stylistic obstacles that were very apparant in their first fight.

It's also suggestive that Cotto's movement and punch resistance would be more apt at dealing with Pac's offense at the higher weight; notions that I'm personally not buying.

Cotto realizes he can't dish and receive in the exchanges he will come off second best. I feel that with the right game plan

he can give Pacquiao problems and beat Manny on points by implementing the Marquez strategy.
