i honestly think a williams fight is high risk, low reward because of his performances against martinez and lara. i see williams being a live opponent in there and i'm not going to be surprised if he pulls this out. at this point, canelo doenst do a whole lot thats really special. he goes to the body very well but he doesnt do anything williams hasnt seen.
the fact that they're making this dude the next one who might possibly fight lil floyd kind of makes it seem like they're saying he's the ish if he's too young and if they don't want to wear him out, then don't hype him up too much, with all that hype, folks will want to see him in there with good comp
Seriously not trying to knock Kirkland, but why does everyone that makes a Williams is a bum thread have James on their list of acceptable fights? What has James done that Paul hasn't?
I doubt Mayweather gets in the ring with Canelo. He can shoulder roll all he wants but if you cant gain Saul's respect with your punching power, his combination punching, size and power will over-whelm Floyd. Canelo isn't a one handed fighter like DLH. The kid can crack with both hands and is a natural 154 pounder. Floyd will give up 20 lbs vs Canelo which is dangerous vs a talent like Canelo. Im not saying in any way Canelo is a better fighter than Floyd but hes got the youth, size, power and talent to beat a small guy like Floyd. Skills pay the bills but Canelo has skills and size.
this isn't knocking on williams, this is knockin oscar's hustle williams just happened to fall in that category of "big name-currently lost" and in ESB, once a fighter loses, "they aren't the same and are broken goods" supposedly if oscar is trying to put this kid as the future of boxing, show case his skills instead of put him in with "big name losers" have more respect for fighters like bradley, sure he doesn't have any fans, but at least he was never hyped up, never was catered to. he went in there, fought great comp, and earned his way to the ranks. the way it should be
Yeah that's my gripe with Canelo. If he wasn't champ just yet I wouldn't have a problem. That's where they messed up, making him champ when he took on Matt Hatton, who went up in weight? Williams will test Canelo and force the kid to his full potental. But this Williams is not the same fighter that took on Margo. Williams looked average in his last fight with Ishida. For the record I think Canelo can beat Kikland. Allthough Kirkland always has that punchers chance. He'll beat Vanes, and maybe Trout as well. Lara is the guy that he;s not ready for, and Floyd. I think he's ready to fight Cotto.
He'll get exposed down the road. Saul is too slow of a starter and takes a long time to think. All this put him in the ring with Mayweather talk is crazy. They're moving him along at a respectable pace as of now. When I watch him I just don't see future ATG material.
He's not ready for Mayweather, that's for sure. But I think he will become a better starter and become a little more aggressive as he's still improving.
yup, champ plus they didn't make weight, he's young so there was no excuses there your point about williams looking average right there says that he might not even test canelo, hope he does. again it goes to that whole thing about would canelo even be fighting williams if he never got ktfo by serg and beat lara i think canelo could beat kirkland too. only reason i had his name along with the rest is because he doesn't fit the "big name-passed prime" criteria. he still has something he's trying to prove. i want to see him in with vanes, see what gameplan freddy would come up with
yea, too slow of a starter and takes a long time to think I'd credit that to be being young, which he is, but he should get better...and exactly all that lil floyd talk is crazy. I don't have a problem with the pace, just the way oscar is trying to make him seem. oscar is doing damage by throwing his name in there with lil floyd when canelo himself isn't even saying nothing
Oh I understand why you included Kirkland. Absoluty, James is a young, prime and hungry, natural 154 lbs fighter. Canelo will get credit for beating Kirkland, more so than I would give against Williams. Though Williams is still better comp than a that version of Mosley that Canelo just destroyed. Besides Shane has never done good at that weight. He was struggling against Mayorga befor KO'ing him.
Allow me to help you get your point straight in one sentence. Oscar, the promoter, is an ******* for promoting.
