Dirrell is a very skilled underrated fighter and Ward is a special fighter. Those two losses(I scored it for Dirrell too) doesn't make him a gatekeeper. If anything, you're not giving enough credit to his opponents.

Tyson lost to Douglas, does that mean Tyson is a B level fighter? You need to take circumstance into consideration and Froch is coming off physically taxing fights since 2008. Those type of recurring training camps takes A LOT out of a fighter and he only officially lost 2 in the last 4 years.

lmaoooo. Comparing Tyson to Froch. He's a one dimensional one handed fighter. He's clearly below Ward's class and is not special in any way. He beat Pascal(a B level guy himself), Jermain Taylor(**** stamina and Taylor was outboxing him clearly) and Glen Johnson(the most overrated C level fighter I've ever seen)

I think maybe what he's getting at is that Froch is like the guy at the front door after you by those at the gate (like Bika and Andrade). If you want to prove that your in the elite of the division, beat Froch, and he has lost to the very elite: Dirrell (robbery), Kessler, Ward, and there's a very good chance he loses to tomorrow.

By mentioning situations of both Tyson and Froch I'm comparing their skills in the ring?, Did you also think I was comparing their lifestyles with that pathetic way of thinking?

Skill wise he should be at gate keeper level, however his handwork leading to great stamina, along with his good chin and heart raises him above the level of a gate keeper and even an 'elite' gatekeeper.

That just makes Froch a top contender.

    Champions -Bute, Ward
    Contenders - Froch, Dirrell
    Gatekeepers - Bika, Andrade
Journeymen - who gives a rats ass

No need for special little names, keep it simple. Boxing is already ****ed up with everything going on.

I don't care to go over it. Was he in the tournament?, the answer is NO. He was in the crowd for almost all of the tournament's fights though.

He was busy fighting Zuniga, Brinkley, Miranda(Fresh out of an Andre Ward tune-up loss), Magee, Andrade, Mendy and a tournament replacement/reject coming off a loss Glencoffee.

I think some people are getting slightly confused, when I say elite gatekeeper, thats not saying he's a better version of Glen Johnson or something, I'm saying that he is the guy to beat if you want to prove your elite ie p4p top 20. Therefore this is not to say Froch cant win belts, just saying I dont think he is or will ever be on that elite level therefore he is the test for those who want to be on that level.

i think ppl are missing the point of the thread

he is saying Froch is elite, and has been a measuring stick of elites at 168

Dirrel lost to Froch meaning he was not in the top tier

Abraham was being heralded for big things, he tried to use Froch as a win to get to the next level

Taylor used Froch as the first belt to challenge at the weight while trying to enter the elite

in a sense its a gate keeper at the highest of levels

kind of a play on words a little

i get it and to a degree its true, Froch is the ultimate test of where you stand at 168

the guy that can be beat but only if you have the goods like Ward or a guy like Kessler who is already good

but he has killed the hopes of more than one guy trying to enter the elite
