Round 6

Several hard jabs into the guard by Thompson. Godfrey is hanging back, covering up when Thompson gets close or else just tilting his head back away from the jab. Godfrey is looking for one big right hand, but not executing in a timely manner when Thompson moves in to miss a jab and then step back out. They circle and stare each other down. Thompson is now stretching his jab out across the gap, missing from far away. Godfrey comes forward, squats, turns his head, and slips jabs. Godfrey is throwing nothing. The ref is issuing stern warnings to somebody for something, inaudible over Teddy. Uppercut to the stomach by Godfrey. Thompson gets inside and grinds his right arm in to the body. Lunging jab by Godfrey. Thompson snaps out a right jab to the face and just grazes. Godfrey dives with a right to the body but misses as Thompson strafes.

Thompson is jabbing at Godfrey, hitting gloves and then taunting him with his mouth agape and tongue out. Lunging jabs from outside by Thompson, missing by feet. Thompson then scurries in and brushes Godfrey's brow by tripling his jab. Back to feigning jabs. More taunting, arms spread wide. Thompson leans side to side, even though Godfrey isn't punching at him. Godfrey cuts off the ring, squats in front of Thomposon - and just stares at him. Nothing. Jab by Thompson. 1-2 by Godfrey. Both miss. Yeesh.

Thompson is throwing syncopated combos now, grunting along with the effort. Godfrey is backing up as though on the automated walkway at the airport, then hugging Thompson. Jabs traded, and Godfrey ducks his way into a headlock. More jabs traded from outside, both missing.
