I more or less agreed with everything you wrote until that final sentence. I believe Froch is HUNGRY following his loss to Ward, and I also feel that Bute will ultimately succumb to the will of The Cobra. Froch in 8. :smoke
With fights like Rios-Gamboa, Khan-Peterson and Berto-Ortiz falling out, I am just super excited that we get something to enjoy. Real top level boxing with stylistical intrigue. I cant wait
I was honestly more fired-up for this one, but now I am even more so given the disappointing trend (and the fact I think Rios escaped with a gift against Abril). :smoke
Well its true that Bute is an unproven entity and has struggled with an inferior fighter in Andrade, and if Froch is able to do the same but get going earlier it might be earlier rather than later. Froch toughness will never be in question, but he's up against it, he struggled with a lightning fast southpaw in Dirrell in Nottingham, and might struggle again with a faster southpaw in Bute. I will go out on a limb and say Bute wins a 115-113/116-112 type decision and they award him the rightful win in England, the right decision that has been long overdue in the sport.
Yeah, big time robberies are just too common for my liking. The sport is suffering from it, you just have to feel for guys like Abril, Campillo and Molina. I hope that the best man wins, like you posted previously
I don't personally view Bute as being faster than Dirrell, and I certainly don't view him as more talented. I'm thinking it will be close around the time Carl stops him in 8 or 9. Bute may even have a slim lead when it happens, but I reckon the momentum will be all Cobra at that point, and that Bute will wish he had never left the comfortable confines of Canada. :smoke
Did you happen to hear our latest episode of OTR (and before that, did you happen to hear when we had The Cobra on recently)? We touched on those themes, and between bad decisions and then fights getting canceled - NOT JUST ANY FIGHTS! But big fights that were high profile rematches looking to be televised on HBO and Showtime -- it's BAD for boxing. I hate to say it but the sport is becoming a joke to the casual boxing fan who is typically enthusiastic about sports. That's why I'm glad (much to my surprise) that so many of my friends who fit this bill absolutely LOVED the fight between Mayweather and Cotto. I watched with about a dozen people who watch maybe 1 or 2 fights a year, and they're typically guys who don't like Floyd, and they were highly entertained and enthusiastic throughout. But then that brings up another bad thing, which is the fact that boxing's 2 biggest stars seemingly have no interest in fighting each other! :good
Oh, its obvious he's not as fast as Dirrell, but faster than Froch.. which is fast enough to give Froch fits :yep By the way was I the only one really shocked at Larouches comments regarding bad judging overseas, when his fighter got a gift whilst getting knocked the **** out in Canada? Just seemed odd to me he spoke of judging, when in reality, Canada and Interbox have more than their fair share of ugly baggage.
Havent checked that episode, I did tune in to the last one with Tim Bradley, Wright and Tony Thompson (who by the way came across like a true gentleman). How do you see Pac-Bradley? Bradley might just get a decision, I mean.. after all he's behind the right promotional entity, JMM was not.:hey So hes a very live dog in my book.
Honestly Magic, I have no idea what to think about Pac-Bradley. Style-wise I think Bradley can make Pac look good. I think that's why they wanted the fight. But Bradley....he seems to have that "something special". I'm looking forward to that fight more and more as it looms closer, too.
I'm not so sure about that! I just cannot see Bute having enough success at controlling the range from a distance against a guy like Froch. Even in fights he struggled with against guys like Taylor, Kessler, and Dirrell - they were only successful at controlling the range for limited periods, which meant they were forced to FIGHT Froch. I see the same thing with Bute. The only guy who was able to TOTALLY dominate the range with against Froch was Ward, but Ward is a master at maintaining the proper distance, befuddling foes by either being too close, or too far away, but never in the comfort zone. Bute has far less dimensions to his game than Ward, so I think Bute will be forced to fight far more than he likes, and I think The Cobra is the one who will win the inevitable battle of attrition that will surely take place.
Think the Hatton fight. Yes Pac will look good. Bradley's technique is just utterly horrible, kinda like Hatton now that I think about it. Both charge in head first, smothering any kind of useful work that could be done on the way.
