I remember UK posters saying Froch wasn't a draw at home and many people there didn't even know him. Hopefully now after all these great fights and his warrior spirit he's finally getting the respect and hype he deserves in his own country. Froch is a credit to British boxing and he did your country proud. This is the type of guy who should be selling out football stadiums over there.
not really, hes better known but he didnt get the hype like harrison, khan, degale etc because he didnt get an olympic medal. it seems to be well known by regular non-boxing people you need one.
He started to get a bit more coverage when he joined matchroom and became a regular on sky sports. Still I don't think he gets full credit but I suspect this is all going to change after last night.
Well, he's getting more attention now. My Facebook newsfeed had quite a few people - who normally don't give a **** about boxing unless it's Khan or Haye - talking about Froch's win. So yeah, finally he's getting the coverage he deserves.
He's getting a hell of alot more, Sky done a good job of selling this one. Still can't believe what the **** fat **** Mick was doing with his career
I gained a lot of respect for him after the Ward loss. Don't know why this is even a question about him finally getting respect. Am I missing something?
In a promotional sense I can't see what the big fat **** did other than starve froch of publicity Just imagine if Froch and Kessler can get it on in the uk and froch wins in an exciting fight.
He was never a big name or draw in the UK like haye or Hatton were. Wasn't really ever respected or known by the general public it might have more to do with his management though.
Fat Mick is one of the most atrocious promoters I've ever had the displeasure of laying eyes on. On the Super Six Fight Camp 360s he looked like a kid on work experience. A fat kid, in a suit, on work experience.
Media are only interested in so called beautiful people ie stereotypical good looks they don't want to put froch's big nose in the spotlight.
As already alluded to, his lack of acclaim in the UK is by and large down to the fact that he aligned himself with an awful promoter for so many years. You don't need to win an olympic medal to be a big name in the UK, Hatton and Bruno were probably the UK's two biggest draws and neither of them won an olympic medal.
He probably gets as much respect from fans in the USA as he does here in the UK Rob McCraken stated that it was criminal the froch doesn't get the credit he deserves in the uk and hes right.
