You need to figure in though that they are different fighters.

Froch is a slugger who has limited fighting skills but who genuinely ****s his opponents up, whilst Zaghes was a lightfisted swarmer and speed merchant who used his local welsh/england fan bias and high punch output to outpoint his opponents.

Froch can never win like Zagheman, he doesnt have the ability to completely outpoint and nor does he ever pick **** oppoments if he can help it, and Zagheman can never win like Froch (well not without a Welsh ref stopping the fight, or picking a **** opponent, anyway).

I think Froch KO5 Bute is the better win by some distance.

Calzaghe was the underdog vs Lacy only because the US media didn't really know much about Calzaghe because Joe had spent 9 years making easy hometown defences rather than seeking out the toughest comp, they thought of Calzaghe the way many people have thought of Chris John over the last few years. They didn't realize that Calzaghe was more experienced, more seasoned, more proven, and still at the peak of his game.

Contrast this with Froch's underdog status, which was on account of many people (me included) believing he was in physical decline due to a series of wars against the very toughest opposition available. To confound these odds and prove everyone wrong is much more impressive than just showing the US media you were better than they thought you were.

This is in addition to the fact that Froch's win was clearly more spectacular and emphatic (a dominant KO early easily beats a dominant UD). Also, I think Bute is a better fighter than Lacy was. Although Bute's chin is a weakness, he has shown excellent KO power and a good range of skills in his title fights. I'd back him to outpoint Lacy, who may have had a much better chin, but had very poor skills, as shown in his pre-Calzaghe war with the mediocre Omar Sheika.

Froch was immense pushing for the KO. Its Froch.

Lacy had a better win that any of Butes with a win over still world class Robin Reid who hadnt long defeated undefeated B Magee who is currently the WBA int champ.
Lacy had never been out on his feet like Bute was against Andrade.

They were both fantastic wins, and I struggle to decide. At first glance I would say Lacy because even though he had less world title fights, he had overall fought at a better level, but then Froch was coming off a loss and put in a great performance.
Both Froch and Calzaghe were late in their careers.

    Its a pick em.

Im a big fan of the SMW division and of Bute and Froch. The atmosphere was amazing in the venue

    Difficult to chose.

You have to remember Lacy was a superstar, he was a mini Tyson who was very highly rated. Joe was the far greater underdog compared to Froch. Nobody sensible really expected Froch to get blasted by Bute like many thought Calzaghe would by Lacy.

I would say Calzaghe over Lacy, mainly because of his masterful display of timing, controlling the distance and ring iq, it was a total shut out.

ALTHOUGH saying that Bute is was and always will be a far better fighter than Lacy..

What Carl did was amazing, cant really argue over anyone who thinks that was the better win, just phenomenal.

Calzaghe will forever regret not fighting Carl Froch

Froch vs Bute. Bute might go downhill from here but I doubt he will collapse as dramatically as Lacy. Bute has beaten better opponents than Lacy. Froch also stopped Bute, whereas Lacy was barely even knocked down by Calzaghe.

I went with Calzaghe over Lacey. Because I feel Lacey was a more proven and dangerous fighter then Bute. Lacey was a good fighter who just peaked early and was done as soon as his peak was finished. Bute was all hype, protected by his promotion, fed a steady diet of bums and kept at home to also be protected by home cooked refereeing when needed.

Read on the ring magazine website, 22 'experts' polled, 12 went for Bute, 10 went for Froch.......

From a US perspective....the Lacy win was way more unexpected. Calzaghe was unknown over here, whereas Froch has been on top TV fights for a couple years against strong opponents. Lacy was thought of a the next Marvin Hagler so that coupled with not knowing much about Calzaghe made it WAY more shocking than Froch's win over a compentent but flawed fighter. Even the most Bute-tarded person would not have expected (or should not have expected) Bute to KO Froch, but most Americans felt that Calzaghe was a dead man walking going into the Lacy fight.

Finally....the term "to Lacify" someone was coined after Joe's win. No one is saying Froch
Bute got "Butified"....doesn't sound as good.

Froch's win was bigger. Lacy was an overrated piece of feces.
