Did Mayweather's dominant win over Marquez enhance his legacy

I think it showed Floyd's tremendous talent, but with so many other and ''better'' fights out there (Mosley, Cotto, Manny, etc.), it deminishes the victory, as well. As good as Marquez is, the fight wasn't fair. And you can argue the ''p4p'' angle all you want, but if Hopkins fights Israel Vasquez...a Hopkins win is just as impressive, right?

Also, to say ''Pac did it...", when talking about moving up in weight...he did it fairly easily, as his body was still growing, IMO. Marquez is a natural 130lb fighter; moving up 15 lbs. is HUGE, especially against someone so comfortable at that weight.

Ive never heard that before. Mosley, Cotto, Margarito and most welters regularly weigh in excess of 10lbs over 147. CAstillo in the Floyd fight outweighed Floyd by 10lbs on fight night. I believe BErto weighed 160 against Collazo.

You may want to rethink your hypothesis. Athough it may be right. Sacrificing some conditioning for a size advantage in the ring.,

I would say no...it was expected... I think pac would have more success then jmm, but Floyd would dominate any way ... styles do make fights but Floyd would have no problem cruzing to a easy ud

He made a much smaller fighter move up two divisions and he cheated him on the scales on top of that.

If anything, this win only cemented Floyd's reputation as a cherrypicker

marquez was p4p number 3 fighter in the world. at the same time he is a lightweight / jr welterweight. this was a tune up fight for floyd, he had been inactive for what almost 2 yrs ? so for me in hind site i think it was a decent fight for to take. the size was never a big deal to me because both fighters are good technical boxers that counter punch. it was going to be a chess match and i knew floyd would win.i just wanted him to make a statement and stop marquez, that was the only way i was going to think it was a great win for him.
but what he did was outbox marquez over the 12 in easy fashion.i needed the stoppage so for me it about 6 out of 10.

Mayweather-Marquez was a glorified comeback fight. It counts for Money's record, but just as one more fight.

 

Marquez was much better prepared against Pac, he actually hired a conditioning and nutrition coach. Didn't have to kill himself to make weight this time, and had enough time to adjust.

Pacquiao would have demolished the bloated, sluggish Marquez that fought Floyd, a lot of people would. Floyd probably beat the very worst version of Marquez to ever lace the gloves and for that he shouldn't get credit, moreso if you consider that Floyd didn't even bother to make weight
