    i agree , he doesnt.

bute fought the wrong fight 100%, and full props to froch.

but what made me cringe was the british euphoria on the BBC website (led by ben dihrs who should know better by now) - who proclaimed froch a 3 time world champion.

    how embarrassing

It never had to be one or the other. If it was both, the Dawson fight would've been bigger had Ward looked good against Bute.

And honestly, a Bute fight would've been good preparation for a Dawson fight anyways because the two have some similarities- they're both rangy, skilled southpaws with handspeed and can put punches together.

What a load of ****. A lot of people took the same veiw of bute as ward. Butes' camp thought they could hide out and fight second and third tier fighters and automatically get a shot at the winner of the super six. Ward would have gotten very little credit for whipping bute. The same people that are claiming he messed up are the same ones that would be calling bute a bum this morning.

Keep in mind ward already dominated froch. Froch didn't do wards dirty work because only bute fanboys and ward haters thought ward vs bute had to happen now.

Funny thing about boxing claiming someone is great on a boxing forum doesn't make them great in the ring.

On the flipside had bute been half the fighter that his fanboys thought he was he would have beat froch and the fight with ward would have been bigger

Ward is a student of boxing and knew that bute was 2/3 hype. And he has all but said so by stating that bute needed to prove himself. A lot of people here thought the same.

If he did screw up by passing up on Bute, he more then makes up for it fighting Dawson. He can still get Bute on the resume as Froch whipping Bute doens't mean that Bute can't beat anyone on the top level. Lets not forget Froch is pretty good himself. Bute has a bounce back win vs a quality opponent and he is back in the game.

Until last night, everyone considered Bute to be the #2 at SMW and since Ward had already beat Froch he would have done his bank balance a world of good. That is my point, he didn't miss out on a payday and improve his legacy what he did was wait it out in order to try to build an event against Bute in the longer term (and get bigger money and legacy from it) but Froch ****ed that up for him by beating Bute's ass. Now Ward has no real opponents at 168 after he fights Dawson (he won't fight Dirrell so I'm not even going there).

You need to strike while the iron's hot for these big event type of fights. Look at what happened with Gamboa vs Juanma, it would have been a big fight when people were calling for it and it would have made the winner a big big star in the sport (wider than just hardcore fans) but instead TR tried to build it bigger and Salido completely ****ed the whole thing up.

    maybe.

but the truth is that bute built up his resume fighting b-graders while the SMW tourney took place.

after saying that, i believe that kessler beating froch might not have happened in nottingham, so i have to give froch props.

froch might not be the best fighter in the world right now, but he deserves serious props for having the balls and resilience for making the most out of his limited reportoire

Well instead of hypejob Bute, he's going for bigger and better things, Dawson is P4P and in a higher weight class. If Ward doesn't go up to 175 though I will discredit it

He's bringing Dawson down to 168 which is precisely my point, if he wins it'll be a decent win but he won't get enough credit for it.

The sport is about money and titles. Ward might've not lost anything, he sure didn't win anything either.

You won't hear me complain about his choice to fight Dawson though. Great fight.

Take that nonsense elsewhere, you pathetic fanboy. Only an idiot puts value in hypothetical/indirect wins. I guess Margarito should never have fought Mosley, eh? And Foreman shouldn’t have bothered with Ali? Or Pacquiao with Morales?

No dumbass, ward never thought bute belonged which is why he wanted him to prove himself. Bute was dominated bhy a fighter that ward dominated. Does that mean that ward would beat bute? No, however I think we all know he would.
