He never fought in a hostile environment like that. He was shell shocked! Completely different fight in Montreal. Nerves are a *****, they can make you feel like your feet are stuck in quick sand.
You cannot sac Bute for this loss. He is still a very good Boxer! He has excellent mental strength and I think a loss will shape his career positively if he builds on it properly. A loss is a loss... and there is nothing wrong with losing.
I was there. It wasnt that hostile. He had plenty of fans there from romania. And at the weigh in. If anything the weigh him cheered him up. Froch seemed pissed off with the amount of support he had.
Did you even read what I wrote? Bute from his last fight wasn't Bute from his first 30 fights. It's like he forgot everything about boxing from the mid 3rd on. Going into the ropes like a scared rabbit. If it would've been me, I would've ran from there. Survival instinct, fear from my very life. He stood there and took 100 heavy punches. Which brings me to his chin. He doesn't such a weak chin. He didn't go down from 100 heavy hits. But he can't take it either, whether it's physically or mentally I don't know. He got hit and he backtracked. He got hit again and he went in the corner. He got hit again and again and he was walking like a drunk man back to his corner. No reaction either from him or his team. But he came back for more every time, that tells me the guy has character. A lesser boxer would've just walked away after the 3rd round. Or the 4th. It would've looked better for him that way. As for the fight itself, LOOK CLOSELY AT ROUND 1. If we would have kept it up for the entire fight as he did in round 1, it would've been a SD for sure one way or the other. Credit to Fronch for realizing that at some point during the 2nd round and going for the kill. Shame on Bute team for not preparing for a desperate Froch. That was how Froch reacts when he's desperate. By his own admission, a loss to Bute would've meant retirement. Now Bute's the desperate one. Let's see how Bute reacts.
I think that could have played a part, but think it also did for Froch in the other way. I was there also and you are right Bute did have a fair bit of support, but obviously it was very pro Froch and the crowd and atmosphere was electric. I wonder if nerves played a bit of a part. Froch winning world titles is a different animal to Froch defending belts. Look at Froch when he beat Pascal, Abraham and Bute compared to the often lazy fighter defending. Bute did come in believing that he was going to beat Froch easily, which im not saying isnt a bad thing to believe, but I think he overlooked Froch a bit, though I think on that night Froch was always going to win fighting like that. I did think that Bute was going to clearly beat Froch and admit I was wrong
I think that the location of the fight is one of those intangibles that boxing fans over look quite a bit. I think that the fight will look different in Canada. I wasn't there, but like you said Bailey, it was a pro Froch environment. Bute is used to fighting in a pro Bute environment. Froch will no doubt get a ton of support in Canada, but it will undoubtedly be pro Bute.
Did his trainer really say that?!!! CRAZY ****!! Bute will never take the rematch with Froch, why would he? It wasn't even close he was completely destroyed from start to finish. I wouldn't be surprised if he never fought again.I hope he does though he is a great guy with some great skills.

It was a horror show. That was basically what would happen to the ordinary working man in the street who got in the ring with a world class professional. It would be no different to what we saw with Froch vs Bute. It was THAT bad.
Dude got served for sure, but he can come back to be a top talent. It has everything to do with people underrating Froch (AGAIN), and slightly overrating Bute. Bute can now have a tune-up against a can in Montreal, and get right back in the swing, if he's up for it. A fight against Kessler would be good, and I think he'd be a tough match for a lot of the top guys at 168.
I don't think I've ever seen a fighter as nervous as Bute. The ring walk was bizarre, that little 'Yeah, I'm with it' bounce he was doing, then the strange camera stare with the wide foot stance, and then the anthem smile at the end of it all. Guy was so shook up it was untrue, couldn't even look at Froch from across the ring pre-fight. Madness. Then he got tagged a little and fell to bits. Sat on the ropes in the 3rd and literally crumbled from there. Felt sorry for the guy actually, mentally the whole night got to him and royally mashed him up.
