I think you know fine well that I'm not the type to go around making trouble and I think I have the respect of some of the very best Bute fans,but you did me a very bad turn for no good reason. But you've came on and many others haven't,and you haven't shirked so I'm happy to leave it at that.
Yeah, I am down, but I am not sorry for myself or for Bute. I am disappointed for him, though and I am sorry for having been arrogant and haughty myself concerning him. In the grand scheme of things, losing a professional boxing fight, even in such categorical, humiliating fashion, and being taken down a few notches in most people's esteem is no big deal, as long as you don't suffer health-wise. Bute got paid very well for doing the job he chose to do and he seems to be OK. I think I am a better boxing fan and a better fan of Bute for this loss. I think he too will become, if not a better fighter, than certainly a better, stronger man for this loss, and ultimately, that's the only thing worth worrying about. If he was deluding himself about his qualities as a boxer, he must have been deluding himself about some of his other, moral, human qualities too. If he was overly proud as a boxer, he was probably overly proud in other ways too. Being humbled from time to time is not just normal, but it is also essential and healthy, because none of us are saints. It helps you see things as they are and helps you see yourself as you are, and that gives you the incentive to change and to grow morally. Bute thinks this loss will make him stronger. I believe there is a very good chance of that. He has had a lot of sins, delusions, pride, etc. washed against Froch the other night too. He will become a better man for it, or at least, he will have a great opportunity to become a better man. The same goes for us too! Pride is the root of all evil. We can learn from this to become better people and better boxing fans! :good Very difficult to see it as such right now, but in many significant ways, what's happened to Bute will prove a blessing in disguise to him and his fans too! Trust me - you'll see!
