Froch has fought top guys one after the other this is a very acceptable next fight and more importantly than that its going to be very entertaining
I think the Kessler rematch makes the most sense for Froch right now. Pavlik can fight a opponent like Abraham or Chavez jr in September, I don't see a better opponent for one another after that.
Like Froch who has only lost to the top fighters? Well, Martinez is not p4p and is over rated, but for the purpose of this argument I suppose I can go with popular opinion.
I do see Chavez vacating instead of fighting Martinez and possibly fighting Pavlik. Abraham? Not gonna happen. Sourland is more realistic in terms of what he has now and if AA picks up a title it will be back to his old ways in Germany nursing it against as low a level opposition as they can get away with.
I would like to see Froch fight Pavlik at some point, it would be a good battle, and an entertaining win for Carl. I suspect Kessler will beat him in the rematch so then Pavlik would make perfect sense.
No he wouldn't. He was at his best a good puncher with a great workrate. Froch gets hit by quick punches he doesn't see, and Pavlik telegraphs every shot and has poor footwork. Pavlik actually ends up almost off balance when his right hand misses and he has to reset himself. Froch would see the punches and have none of the issues he has with boxers who move and outspeed his own jab. Pavlik would be stood right where Froch wants a fighter to be, throwing a stream of predictable but heavy 1-2s. The big difference is that Froch has the much better chin and throws a good uppercut too, which Pavlik is wide open to. It would be a total war for about 3 rounds, with Pavlik knocked out. The guys best win is clearly Taylor and the rest are fairly unimpressive. Guys like Taylor and Ward who are fast with good jabs and decent footwork will cause Froch all sorts of trouble. Guys like Pavlik are made for him.
It's not the right time for it. Pavlik needs more wins on his comeback trail to consider fighting Froch.
