Foreman may have been a good strongman had he trained for it, but honestly people throwing out his strenght feats its not that impressive. I know guys 100 lbs smaller than foreman that can pull trucks. Its really about momentum an technique.

fred Askew is from minneapolis; at least, he fought out of there. my best friend knows him well. Give me a minute and I'll come back with some good freddie Askew stories.

You won't be able to find any, Lyle said he did this while he was in prison, makes sense i guess all you can do to past time is exercise even tho 1000 in an hour seems a little bit steep, especially considering Lyle weighed around 200-220.

500lbs isn't actually a big deal for a pro athlete. I would imagine pretty much every light heavyweight could squat that now.

It's not that big weight for a pro powerlifter.

    You're imagining it wrong, Manning.

It's a very serious weight for a light heavyweight boxer.

Come to think of it I rarely even heard of boxers doing the squats as a part of their training.

I read that Tua did them later in his career.

Mosley was a weightlifter in high school.

    Who else?

Lifting a 500lbs barbell is VERY different to lifting a 500lbs cow, it isn't easy to balance out, can't get your grip right, more weight on one side, it moves and kicks, much wider body that can't be placed comfortably on the back anywhere etc.

I don't know about squats but I heard that Kosta Tszyu and Terry Norris had very impressive bench presses for their weight, over 300 lbs IIRC.

Tyson in his comeback did squats and leg press not for how much he could do tho.

    Good call.

There was a video of Tyson squatting.

I've heard about Kostya too but not about Norris.

    Interesting.
