Is Bute a overhyped bum like Lacy or was it just an off night for him?

I am not a fan of Calzaghe and v much a Froch fan. Been following Froch way before he became big.

This isn't about Froch but how badly Bute unperformed. Froch did his usual fight and I thought even if Froch was in 2nd gear, he would have destroyed Bute because of the difference in level.

The similarity for me was that both Lacy and Bute was overhyped as the best in the division by a lot of people and turned out to be no where near. Bum is probably too harsh but I can't see Bute challenging for the top spot ever again after this showing. If he continues boxing probably see him stuck with fighting B and C class fighters.

Somewhere in between. Bute has a more rounded skillset than Lacy did, he just ran into a really hard puncher and couldn't handle it. He was over-hyped, but not on the same level as Lacy who was a real life incantation of The Great White Hype.

The main difference is that Bute did actually land some solid shots, which is more than one can say about Lacy against Calzaghe.
Bute isn't as good as his fans thought he was, and most non-diehard Bute fans knew that already, but he's better than Lacy.

Meant to say "crowding style". But again, losing to Froch does not necessarily means he loses to Ward. Ward definitely won't blitz him like Froch as he doesn't have the power like I said earlier. I still want to see Bute/Ward because of that and Saturday doesn't change that.

Lacey was hyped because of his physique and ability to KO less than stellar fighters.

There's more substance to Bute, trust me.

No I wasn't laughing at your spelling. Just that you think Bute would have a good chance against Ward.

I can't see Bute ever fighting the Ward, Kessler or Froch level again. Hard to see how he can come back from it.

    Oh, ok.

Because Ward will blitz Bute and knock him out in brutal fashion like Froch did? Kessler is the only boxer at the elite level I can see ko'ing Bute but Ward is not a swarming puncher by any means. Best style for Bute to fight and only guy I think he can beat assuming Kessler is not too faded. Now Ward should be a favorite in a potential Bute-Ward fight but by no means would he look more impressive than Froch did. Styles make fights.
