Yet you rounded down...whereas I rounded up from 8½.

Well that makes it allright then, cause 8¾+8½=17¼ and 8+9=17 so there's only a ¼ difference :yep ;)

first of all you can only finish once it has been set up. to say he did not finish Ward/johnson is not even worth discussing as he never hurt them.

But against Taylor & Bute you saw how he can finish a hurt fighter. drops his hands, stands back to give himself space to work and pick his power shots well.

On the flip side - Against AA he could have finished him but he was too wary of his power so he never dropped his hands. but then he did not need to finish him.

he is a great finisher (9/10) - compared to someone like Haye who KO's more people but is a sloppy finisher, gets all wild when he smells blood or someone like Wlad who is just tires people out then BAM... one punch ends it.

I love Froch (I'm British and love him regardless) but a top fighter with a big punch should finish someone retreating to the ropes that much. Still it only took him 2 and half round to do it, when Bute was in trouble, which is a testement to his finishing ability. The smart gameplans against Glen Johnson (not to mention how tough they are) meant he was never gonna finish them, Pascal showed a lot of balls in there fight as well.

Noted. The overview of his form against opponents in the last six years was meant to stress that those he tends to hurt all but the elite and those he DOES hurt, he usually stops...and in every case but Reid he stopped by directly finishing them off.

I'd like to know who could hurt Pascal or Johnson enough to create an opening to finish them off. :think

Also, Froch isn't so much the man with the big punch. Big enough, he's quite heavy handed, but he's isn't a one-hitter knockout artist. He orchestrates long-form demolitions. He has just enough pop to sooner or later catch opponents with a chin-tester and possibly get his foot in the door...and to then ram the door down once the switch flips.

I gave him a 7. He slaps with his left and uncorks with his right. He is above average but not great.

At what point did you see a realistic opening where Abraham was hurt and susceptible to a finishing attempt? :think

At least 8 out of 10, possibly a 9. I'd give him 10 but sometimes he's too eager to get the stoppage when he has his man hurt.

    :good

Eagerness is OK, but control is the key. Froch does spiral off rail at times.

I am now in a position to ban poll-sabotaging trolls like Florez, HeGlassedMe, keyboardwarrior and Slyk ...unless of course these people can cough up an argument that they were voting seriously. :think

Still, even with their interference factored in, ESB has pegged Froch as about an 8.5 - in other words, an excellent finisher by acclamation.

Good and patient enough to stop and fix this trunks whilst in the midst of a finishing.

    Great line.

For the record, I give Froch an 8. He is damn good at finishing opponents, but doesn't really carry the one punch KO power to warrant a 10, plus he leaves himself open for return haymakers.

    I think he's closer to an 8 than a 9, maybe an 8.3??
