Anyone can come up with an unsubstaniated claim. People like you are able to do that, you're entitled to your opinion. Montoya is claiming he's a journalist, and journalists aren't supposed to do that. He shouldn't be making claims based off a whim, or mere rumors.

But as to your question, they stand to gain business. They are much more expensive that the competitor in VADA, and haven't proven any more effective. If the Wright Quillin thing is true, they sure are displaying a lot of flexibility given their mission statement.

 

They are a non profit entity. They get plenty of funding from the goverment. The whole reason they were created was to maintain drug testing integrity. If they were found to have suppressed positive drug test results, that would be it for them. I'm not sure why a non profit entity, who can always get funding from the government, would risk their entire opperation just to get 100K or so from Mayweather. Maybe I'm wrong, but it doesn't make sense to me.

Can you imagine the shitstorm if Manny was rumored to have failed three tests? It would be pandemonium, facts be dammed.

That's funny now we have to watch out for testing agency of doing peds. We need an agency to watch the agencies. Then we need a tea party in boxing to complain about how the government of boxing is to big.

 

Why would the USOC keep propping them up if a private agency is far cheaper, and statistically more effective (if that's the objective, of course)? Even non profits have self preservation instincts.

 

Are you refering to VADA, a company that lists Victor Conte as a consultant? I'm pretty sure the U.S government would love to have them as the official testing agency for the olympics. That would go over well.

 

It's not a very pragmatic attitude, even the FBI hire reformed criminals. Heck, Conte's openly working with some high profile boxers. In fact, VADA already caught a Conte client, which speaks of their impartiality. And I'm sure they'd be happy not contracting Conte for this job, for propriety sake.

 

So just to get this straight, The USADA is hiding positive drug tests, and risking their whole existence to fight off an upstart company that's being consulted by a Federal ex convict. Mind you that VADA didn't even gain much recognition until like 2 or 3 weeks ago. It seems like there would be a very low probability of this occuring.

 

I don't know that USADA is hiding anything, though this Wright Quillin thing sure doesn't look good, if true. And neither does this cease and desist order from GBP. Where was this "Floyd 3 failed tests" accusation even published? I read the Wright Quillin max boxing article, and while disturbing, I didn't see anything libelous. If anything, it cries out for more disclosure, whatever the result.

Why Floyd fans so mad? If this was happening to Top Rank with Pac involved, they'd be supportive of the investigative reporting to uncover some possible hidden truths. But since it's GBP, they are not supportive of Montoya's efforts.
