I wouldn't take the Ortiz fight any seriously to be honest. Ortiz is not in Mayweather's level at that stage of his career and it was obvious.

Come on man, Corrales was bigger, but that joker couldn't box for ****. He was a straight up brawler that tried to get you out.

I thought he would get some sense when he fought Clottey and utlize his height and reach, but no, same old Corrales.

    by the way RIP Corrales.

I'll agree partly. Corrales had a good jab, but neglected it alot of the time. Wanted to fight too much.

He did show a different dimension against Ortiz. As others have said, a lot of that is due to Floyd being able to control the pace and range at will, and being the more mobile fighter against Ortiz. Also, Ortiz was also aiming his straight punches at his shoulder, as his trainer was instructing him to do in camp, which for what reason I don't know, since that plays perfectly into Floyd's trap of providing a false target, and messes up Ortiz's foot alignment. Jut look at how Victor puts himself at a disadvantage the way he steps into this shot:

While people were saying Cotto had the element of surprise when turning southpaw, which is true, his accuracy and foot placement were key to his success. He was able to achieve conventional lead foot positioning on the outside of Floyd's lead foot (pic), but was also able to use the less commonly utilized angle of being all the way outside his opponent's right hand (gif).

While Floyd will beat all but the very best southpaws in history, I feel that he's ultimately as linear as ever and still open for straight left hands through the guard, as well as counter right hooks.

I really am looking forward to debating Mayweather vs Pac with you if it gets made. If you'll forgive the arrogance, I say we make it PPV :yep

Floyd uses his left shoulder and even left arm as trip wires. Get too close to it or make contact then he has the timing down to counter. In fact, that's what happened to Ortiz and his jab before Mayweather rights him in the face of your gif.

Ortiz trainer was lost and had him training to attack Floyd's shoulder.

Ortiz's trainer was a ****ing moron.

Even if he counters, we don't need to worry. He doesn't hit hard.

A dedicated fan base that isn't seen when a Froch Bute fight happens, or anything excluding one of a select two.

Never mind, they'll be back in two weeks.
