I don't believe McCallum was afraid of Eubank - it would've been political/business I imagine. This content is protected
That's a silly thing to say. It would've been an interesting one though. Eubank was confident of beating Mike, who I think would've struggled with Eubank's foot movement and natural size/strength.
Don't compare Eubank and Froch. That is disrespectful to Chris, who would beat the crap out of Froch.
Not when you consider how they both performed against Watson and bare in mind Eubank's low hands against McCallum's jab and technical package is a very bad match up for Chris I'd pick McCallum to beat Monzon and Hagler too
Eubank was like B-grade version of Kalambay, so I think McCallum would win quite comfortably after som awkward early rounds.
Eubank was never really touched with a left jab. McCallum would be far too fluid for him toe-to-toe, but Eubank wouldn't stand toe-to-toe with him. Also bare in mind Eubank was really a lightheavy making middle and McCallum a juniormiddle coming up (when MM was at lightheavy in his 40s he had a large gut..)
I need more than this from Eubanl's nr. 1 fan on the site. Eubank would have been one of the best pay-days Mike could hope for. And an easier opponet than Toney or Kalambay. Can't see him, who was always chasing those fights, backing away from it.
He punched harder, but not that by a wide margin. On the other hand, Kalambay was more skilled and had a much more consistent work rate. Which is way, as an old man, he still easily beat Collins, who would beat Eubank twice. (waiting for excuses on Eubank's behalf and how Collins was green etc, etc)
McCallum was calling for Eubank, and vice-versa. They were calling for eachother. "I've beaten Graham, I've beaten Watson. Where's Chris?" - MM, 04/90 "Apart from Herol Graham and Michael Nunn, I accept the challenge of any middleweight in the world because I know they won't defeat me." - CE, 11/89
