..if he really is losing like 7 lbs the day before the fight and comes in as heavy as he does, then thats the division he belongs in...dunno if that had anything to do with his poor performance, but it couldn't have helped.
7 lbs is not a drastic amount of weight to cut. The only factor that came into play against Froch is his horrible Glass Jaw, that I might add the ChinCheckers pointed out time and time again in the past. Going to LHW would only get him savagely KOed by bigger punchers.
dude cutting that much weight the DAY before the fight weakens you, even if you rehydrate...i have no doubts all fighters are stronger boxers at their proper weight..
that was the rumor...5, 7 whatever...i think he looks like a LHW squeezing himself down to smw and sometimes your body finally loses the aboility to do that, especially as we age...
All top-flight fighters do it and the point is to be as strong as one possibly can at a given weight. They get in peak shape roughly ten pounds above the contractual weight and then zap off that much water weight simply for the scale. Then they drink Pedialyte or some such beverage to repelenish nutrients and electrolytes and they're fit as a fiddle with ten pounds more of muscle than the weight limit would imply on fight night. Seriously, I'm shocked at how little most people on here understand the dynamics of cutting choosing to think that it's simply a process of dieting during the training camp.
He said after he made a white night to be able to make the weight he was going to... but after he lost to Froch he believe he has unfinished at 168.
i'm familiar with weight cutting of fighters...and no "ALL" fighetrs don't do it...for example, i ran into FROCH ahead of the Ward fight and was shocked that he was the same weight as me-168, weeks before the fight...all fighters rehydrate 10lbs or so give or take....all do not kill themselves to make weight.
Yes. . . I've tried to explain that the way boxers cut weight is simply to completely dehydrate themselves by not drinking, or eating for about 36 hours before the weigh-in. . And all they loose is "water weight". . . No actual body mass is sacrificed. However, sometimes a boxer will have to diet for their training camp if they have put on actual fat, and or muscle between fights. . . Sometimes they will have to lose "actual body mass" during training camp by restricting caloric intake, coupled with their intense training. . . But most boxers who stay in shape between fights, simply have to take off that 10-12 pounds of pure water weight (no actual body mass) 36-48 hours before weigh-in, and then simply rehydrate immediately thereafter. Guys like Chavez, and Rios are probably taking off some real body mass, and compeltely sucking every last bit of water weight out of their body 72-96 hours before weigh-in. That's why it's just as crucial to test for diuretics like Furosemide, because it can give a boxer an unfair advantage by enabling htem to get as much water weight off as possible, without sacrificng body mass (strength).
and i'm not downgrading Froch's win...i have not even watched the fight yet...i'm simply saying this weight cutting (cheating?) has gotten outta hand really..
STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He was suppose to beat Froch easy, and now many try to discredit Froch and his win, Froch destroyed him because Bute was untested and overrated end of story, if he wants he has a contract to have a rematch!
