This is not a hate thread im just curious to how long it takes to make a PPV fight . Ive heard Floyd say it takes 6 months but didnt they announce the Cotto fight in Feb - early March??? Im guessing theres behind the scenes processes but if so the fight was talked about in Decemeber to make it 6 months?

It does take months to MAKE a ppv fight, as in making a non-entity like Bradley a sell worthy fight.

Cotto was a massive name, they could have three weeks to sell the fight and it'd make over a million ppvs.

It takes about 3 months to properly promote a big ppv fight. There could be addtiontial things that are done behind the scenes that could take addtitional time. I really don't know for sure.

Ofcourse, I was only throwing a number out there.

But my point was, there are certain fighters who are already marketable, Cotto was. Ortiz was NOT.

Thus the difference between the signing of the fight and the actual date of the fight.

It takes a while. 4-6 months like others have said. I'm not sure why it can't be sooner. I know you have to find where you are going to fight, stadium availability, etc. but damn...its a long time for a fan to wait.
The first time I hear how long it takes was from Cayton and Jacobs when they were talking about a Tyson PPV.

Then later on it was Arum discussing it and so on.

It's why Big Time Fighters aren't as active as the Old Timers.
