    That was in June 1977

    At the Palazzetto Dello Sport in Rome, Italy

    Jerry Quarry and Brent Musberger were there for the Victor Galindez vs Richie Kates II
    WBA Light-Heavyweight Championship.

    Also, the undercard bout - Rocky Mattioli vs. Angel Jose Ortiz.

    Jerry at the time, was in excellent mental condition, and looked to have a promising
    career as a CBS Boxing Announcer.

    Jerry was a very good analyst, and the boxing game would have benefited greatly
    to have him as an announcer.

    But his 'money hungry father', forced him to try Heavyweight Ranks once more, and
    he had that 'forgetable bout' with Lorenzo Zanon, in Las Vegas in November 1977.

    He won the fight, on a desperation punch, but his 'fight announcing career' was over, as
    CBS did not want him back.

    Another bad career decision.

    Jerry was a 'good guy',,,,,,,,,,,steered wrong by a 'celebrity hungry father'.

    Heartbreaking to think how it all ended up for Jerry after seeing him on form like that. Great impersonation though!

    I think that, in spite of him being a victim of Ali, there was a bit of admiration between the two. Ali said some nice things about Jerry, and so did Frazier from what I've read.

    That impersonation was spot on. I didn't know he had it in him. My memories are of Quarry being beaten to a bloody pulp by Ali, so it's good to see he had a sense of humor in those days.

    JQ also did an impression of Ali when Jerry competed in the Superstars competition a few years prior, so this was hardly the first time he did it on-camera.

    Even when in the full throws of dementia, he could reportedly sing Elvis dead on. He actually did perform with the Three Dog Night on stage. Seems to have had an excellent ear, and probably could have made a career in music or foreign languages, if given an opportunity to pursue alternative careers during his formative years.
