Everybody knows that JK wasn't cleared to fight at least until october, and that was a very optimistic prognosis. They even wanted one or two tune up fights to check the shoulder. But JK team knows this opportunity comes only once in a life time and took the fight. He won't have adequate sparring sessions and if his shoulder doesn't respond there is no way the fight will be cancelled, too much money already invested. And thats the reason GBP was pushing for this fight.JK has the excitement style to sell the PPV card, casual fans will only see clips of JK knocking out guys and won't be aware of his damaged shoulder.
There were enough healthy fighters in line for this fight, Vanes,Lara,Molina,Trout(if beats DR).But they were shopping for the easy one.
By the way, i favor Canelo to win even against a 100% JK.This is not about hating the boxer but the system that governs the sport.

Kirkland is suffering from an injury?

Wasn't aware of this. How serious is it?

This has been going on for years bro. It's all and well having a rant about it, but at the end of the day, if it's yours mine or the whole of ESB's opinion, it ain't changing **** all

Which is exactly why I'll be hoping James Kirkland utterly destroys Canelo.

You know GBP wants Canelo to win.

Once again though we see how hypocritical ESB is. When is Alvaez gonna step and fight someone that can throw a punch like Angulo or Kirkland. Now were just going to pick holes in it again like we always do because we can never be satisfied wah ****ing wah :|

Kirkland is a good step up for Canelo. However, you can't ignore the truth. Kirkland was offered the fight before Williams, but turned it down because they didn't believe his shoulder would be ready by September. After what happened to Williams, they had to get a suitable name so that they could go ahead with their PPV plans. All of a sudden, Kirkland's shoulder will be ready by September. At the end of the day, Kirkland agreed to the fight, so no one will want to hear anything about his shoulder.

Would prefer Canelo-Lara. If Canelo want to fight Floyd next year Kirkland is not a step up in competition after Mosley.
I think 154 is the most exiting division today, so many exiting fighters.
Would really like to see a Super Six

Its a win-win situation for Kirkland biggest payday of his career and if he loses can just blame the injury, people need to stop sayin Lara vs Alvarez it aint gonna happen anytime soon if ever, Lara would destroy him and then Alvarez and gbp can't make the Mayweather fight, after he loses to Mayweather it might happen lol

It's still a win for the fans, mainly due to Kirkland's style. Wolfe will make sure JK is as prepared as he can be. All he has to do is be competitive and we'll see a nice fight. Things can be better, but considering all the **** that's been happening this yr, this fight is far from being trash.

This, and the good thing is there's still and a few months til the fight I'm sure Wolfe will be planning how to get him as close to 100% as possible knowin that the shoulder might be dodgy

I always liked this match up, even more than Alvrez-Williams which I also liked a lot but Kirkland's injury really lessens this match up.

Last week Kirkland wouldn't be ready until October and wanted a tune-up to test out the shoulder and now he's ready to go in September without a tune-up. Hard to get excited about this match up under these circumstances.

Actually Paul was the first choice....James was the likely sub other than Lara at 154. James is a bigger name than Molina or Lara. It's about money and its not a bad fight....I think it will be exciting but one sided.

unless kirkland is really ****ed up in the shoulder this is the best fight for canelo right now.
williams vs canelo was fan friendly fight but not a threat lets keep it 100 !
krikland vs canelo is fan friendly fight but mandingo is more dangerous fight. i expect canelo to beat both but at krikland can test his ass and that chin, saul aint been the same since he got koed. hope we he gets well sooner then later, best fight for canelo right now !!!

james was promised the fight if he was to beat anuglo anyways.
