I want to compare him to other flyweight area fighters from the orient: Khosai Galaxy, Yoko Gushiken, Jiro Watanabe, Chul Ho Kim. Whenever I see films of these oriental fighters, the fans always seem to be way more into it than the fans you see at American fights nowadays.

Shudder to think how much you've got in Duran memorabilia.

I remember the one before Montreal that said "No Way Sugar Ray". I had that issue.

    Wish I still had it.

I think my favourite performance of his may actually be Buchanan. He was simply relentless, shame some tend to focus on the manner of the stoppage.

Great but if he didn't no mas, he would be considered much higher in the rankings. He single handedly put an asterisk beside his name by quitting in the ring.

On the contrary; that fight doesn't count. Duran had to lose too much weight and it affected him somehow and so it doesn't count as a loss.

No Mas is part of Duran`s story and should be considered when comparing him to the elite boxers of alltime. On the other hand he did comeback from it. It took a helluva man to comeback from that and in a way that makes him greater.

:deal:deal:deal Self inflicted humiliation that would have crushed even strong men but Duran showed he was made of something very very special as a man & a human being as too ressurect himself in such a fashion when faced with such adversity albeit mental/public & physical. He is your original "Phoenix" & also the last man standing:D
