Not at all, I am a poster on that forum but i didnt post that stupid thread. i didnt even reply to the garbage. Here is an interesting reply to it though. "Mmmm... let me just check the envy-ometer and see if I agree with you... Roosters - 5 Grand Finals in the last 12 years, one Premiership, one spoon. Vermin - a couple of embarrassing semi-final appearances in the last 40 years, too many spoons to mention. 2012 - Roosters can't take a trick and are languishing near the bottom of the ladder while Souths are Top 4. But wait, it's still only May... No, I'm not yet prepared to agree with you yet. But come back in 2052 and, if things don't turn around, I might agree with you then. "
What a ****wit, Souths have always, regardless of results been the more prestigious big brother, some of these rorter supporters have very fragile takes on history & reality
so many people claiming that the tigers are winning games because of "biased" ref decisions. I am not exactly a one eyed fan and it is the biggest load of **** i have ever heard. on a side note im ****ing over the whole Souths vs Roosters garbage. Souths have and always be the more prestigious team. More passionate and loyal fans, richer history, proper juniors and a better image. They are an old school rugby league club and i respect that. That said, the Roosters are very similar but i just dont get the same feelings of tradition and passion that the rabbits have. Its just one of those intangible things that has developed over a long, long time. None of that made sense really... im ****ing tired as hell and dribbling ****
What people have to remember is that without expansion there would be no competition. If Manly hadn't split from Norths back in 1947, the firece local derby between them would never have existed. Besides, Easts are a foundation club, so I don't get all this looking down on them from LOL@Souff$ fans - their hatred is driven by jealousy as Easts have had better results in the modern game than LOL@Souff$. When they deride all of the other clubs who have been successful for reasons such as merging (St George Illawarra, Wests Tigers, Manly post-Northern Eagles etc.), it's really just LOL@Souff$ fans putting up excuses to try to distract from the fact they've been so pathetic in the modern era. All this "local juniors" talk is obsolete in today's game. Instead of blaming the club, why not blame the "treacherous local junior" who sold his soul to join a neighbouring club instead of doing his tenure at his local club? How LOL@Souff$ fans can bag Easts for buying marquee players in an effort to win a premiership is laughable considering the stars they've got in their team today.
what are you on about?? not all that long ago, in fact for the better part of two decades you couldnt pay players enough to go to souths. The ones that did go certainly werent going there for the "prestige" i like the bunnies but lets not get confused here. Its only pretty recent that theyve again been viewed as anything other than a retirement home.
Gonzo in the above post summed it up pretty well actually, read what he says Judged mental on the other hand wouldn't know his arse from his elbow
All the clubs used to offload their hasbeens to This content is protected when longtime Norths winger David Hall got a contract at This content is protected shaved his perennial moustache off like he thought he was starting a new life and did SFA there...they got Adam Muir and Chris Caruana too, although to be fair Muir was originally a cast off from Newcastle...Caruana's living out of his car on the northern beaches now
It was funny how all the TV celebs suddenly came out and revealed themselves as This content is protected fans when Rusty came on board...nothing like a flavour-of-the-month bandwagon for obscure celeb types to get on board for some free publicity :yep Fat Mikey Robbins, Andrew Nerd Denton LOL!!! "Oh yeah, I used to love going to the footy with my old man when I was a kid at...(where did they play again? Red...Redfern???)..." :nut
I really wish the Balmain Tigers were still a separate entity. I was a Magpies supporter and naturally moved over to the Wests Tigers but i was always impressed by the fierce following Balmain had. This was back when it wasnt latte drinking doctors wives etc. These were knock about working class families that had been in the area for generations thanks to coal and other industry. I loved slogans like "Balmain boys dont cry" and "black and gold will never fold"... Leichardt oval was such an intimidating ground for visiting teams and the whole of Darling Street was a mass of black and gold banners. Most of the shops had posters of players on the walls, everyone was into footy and because it was such a close knit community everyone was fierce about their allegance to the Balmain Tigers. But I guess it was always going to be doomed... prime real estate meant that the working class families that lived and breathed footy, and their kids played longing to be Tigers someday, were pushed out by the richer classes who didnt give a monkeys toss about rugby league. The 2005 grand final win that saw Darling Street completely cut off was just a taste of what it was in the 80s and early 90s when i was a little kid with family in Birchgrove. Guys like Benny Elias and Wayne Pearce were a rare breed... they grew up in the area and wanted to be Tigers their whole life, part of a great tradition. I respect teams like Souths that kept their identity against the odds, but I guess for Balmain it was always going to be a mammoth task due to changing demographics, a fairly small area and the money just wasnt there.
Gonz, all you have to do is look at where the Newtown blue bags are these days and you'll understand why clubs had to merge. That said, all of the merged teams have had far greater success than LOL@Souffs - look at how many premierships have been won by merged clubs since 2000: St George Illawarra - 2010 Wests Tigers - 2005 And then you have the even greater achievement of resurrection after a failed merge (Northern Eagles): Manly Warringah Sea Eagles - 2008 and 2011 Hell, even the club that LOL@Souff$ fans love to bag out won a premiership in 2002 Meanwhile, the self-proclaimed proudest of clubs with the most members and the longest history: LOL@Souff$ - 0
Sterlo: He stayed outside when Florimo made the initial bust. I think you will find that marijuana was in two kinds there, North Sydney really should have scored Rabs: I think Peter meant to say “Caruana was in two minds"...they take no prisoners in the commentary box Sterlo and Fatty: Turn it up Rabs: Turn it up you two! We'll try and restore some order back into proceedings! Wasnt Caruana ****ing Elle Macpherson for a bit? Lucky ****... id give a right arm just to cop a whiff of that fine snatch even these days
i remember when i was a kid living in the backstreets of cambelltown and balmain played the bulldogs in a grand final. it seemed like every house in my street was either a doggies or tigers fan. tina turner was on fire and I remember that crepe paper stuff being absolutely everywhere. on cars, in windows, in shops. the streets were deserted when the game was on and all you could here was shouting coming from every house. and this was in the middle of ****ing cambelltown! 50 k's from either team. i think its the saddest thing and part of the legacy of super league that weve lost that. they were great days for rugby league.
I remember watching a Staurday arvo game on ABC when ****** Boland and Peter Jackson were commentating and Jacko said "His mum was a carrot and his father was a marijuana tree, Chris Caruana" Mate I dunno about the Elle thing, he may well have been, he's always been involved in one scheme or another...he was Julian O'Neill's "life coach" for a while when he was trying to get his life back on track, he was hanging around with Fenech and Shannan Taylor for a while too, and dusted Taylor in the pokies room of a pub in Five Dock after Taylor lost to Mosley Now he reckons he's broke and living out of his car on the northern beaches because he can't get housing commission shelter in the area and refuses to go out to where he can get some because his kids go to school on the beaches. But somehow he's managing to train and play for Manly Cove and has Alan Jones on his side, which always makes me raise an eyebrow - Jones was all over Mark Geyer when he went through his bad times too...he always seems to turn up to help out young athletic blokes who are down on their luck :hey One thing I will say about Caruana though - he's a genuine hard ****...
