Dudes here alwasy talking out thier a$s and they have never trainied one day of their life and have no idea of the sacrifices and how dificult could be to lose even 1/2 pound. One pound could make or break you! Being dehydrated by one pound is a killer. You may even be able to put it back on fluids, but it not exactly the way it works. Human physiology will not adapt to hyperhydration you fuggs! This is what you'll have to do when you lose that water weight very quicly (for example lossing 1 pound with a 24 hour period). Its called being human! We have to hyperhydrate to attempt to compensate for the extreme water loss but your budy will just waist it in the form of -****-. You'll just **** it away. It take on average for a normal human being a period of 48-72 hours to fully hydrate and do so correctly. During a fight your sweat output will exceed water intake and your will hyphydrated with it means that your body will be in fluid deficit. Not just that but this is down to cellular level -very deep-. This will adversely hurt your aerobic performance and aerobic metablism and will severely impair your muscalar stregnth, power and endurance!! Addtionally, this condition of hyphydration will store excess heat, which will reduce cutaneous (sp??) blood flow and volume, severely hurting your blood capacity to carry oxigen and again huring your: EXTAMINA, ENDURANCE, STRENGHT and POWER! At the end, we DO NOT KNOW for sure what Miguel Cotto had to do in order to make weight for the Pac fight. The way that Miguel runs his camp (quiet, not very much that we hear other than rumors) he may as well had to strugle to make weight. He can say what ever he wants "yeah weight is no problem" or what ever. Miguel is NOT going to come and say...."we struguled to make weight". The man is a profesional and a true warrior. Miguel did say that he "will not sacrifice his body AGAIN, to make weight" which could be taken as he did strugle to make weight against Pac. Yes, Pac is one bad mofo, and he is a 8 division champ and top 1-2 P4P but on an even fight.....Ill have to go with Miguel! To close......YES, one single pound will hurt your performance. SEVERELY hurt your performance!
The day when they announced the fight, Cotto has 6 months to safely lose those 1 lb extra. Please explain.
May be. The case is what he had to do in order to lose that final 1-2 lbs and WHEN did he lose them. We dont know if he struggled to do so? Did we?
Cotto weighed in at 145 on the first try. Corrales weighed in 2 pounds over the limiton the first try. See the difference?
Cotto made weight and looked great stamina wise. Backpedaled til almost the end of the fight. Showed no signs of fatigue. This content is protected PC: Was coming down to 145 tougher than you thought it would be since you hadnt weighed 145 or less since 2006? MC: I felt really good at that weight. It wasnt a problem for me.
show me the picture of cotto being forced to agree to a catch weight? cotto got ****ing smashed by a guy who used to be the flyweight champion of the world....drained or not one would think he could handle himself a little better
i have had 64 fights so have a little idea of how things work....and it all depends om the amount of time and the will of the opponent. By asking for a weight like pacman does, pac s team is making sure a naturally bigger guy is reduced to the equivalent of the weight zone they are fighting in.No unfair advantages against a guy who could fight two divisions higher if he wanted to.....nuff said:hat
Apparently, even if Cotto was givenlike 6 months to be at that weight, he cannot do it because his best weight is 154 according to *****s. Of course, they are dumb.
If the 145 catch weight was not ever an issue then the catchweight would never have been made in the first place!! Remember when Roach wanted to fight Mosley at 141lbs for his welterweight title?!! im sure that wouldn't have effected Shane either as he could easily rehydrate to 147lbs come fight night!! LOL
It could have been a problem, but I don't think it was that big a deal. He didn't fight like he was drained. The real problem was his lack of a trainer in camp and in his corner.
this is a guy who a few years earlier was fighting at super bantamweight (118 pounds) ....of course it was an issue...no one had done **** like this before...... would Donaire be a little ***** for going to welterweight and requesting andre berto come in at 145? oh, what an unfair advantage the skinny guy 5 weight divisions below would have on Berto..... pac was the ****ing flyweight champ one time...and fighting cotto for a welterweight strap.... who the **** cares about 2 ****ing pounds ....queers like you
