Since when did Canelo get such credit as a strong proven young champ??

I mean I like the guy and I wish him well but I mean come on,he hasn't even reached his prime yet and still has much to learn.

why not? he's a already a risen attraction star mostly in mexico. alot of ppl knows who he is for years since he's been on mayweather undercard fights alot of times. if he beats kirkland, theres a 90 percent chance he'll fight cotto in december or in january and if he beats cotto then i dont see why not for mayweather vs canelo in may 2013.

Yes, probably on cinco de mayo next year, alot of money to be made in that fight. Canelo being Goldenboy and around the same weight class makes it inevitable imo.

Cotton can barely win a few rounds against Mayweather.
But Canelo is suppose to make a good fight.

Canelo is no where near ready, even in a years time he gets out boxed, and not by Mayweather, but by Cotto.

cotto aint a real 154 pound guy....neither is floyd. alvarez is....

yeah canelo aint ready , he has been a pro for only 7 years, is 40-0 and has 5 world title fights at 154 and is 5-0 in them.

a guy like victor ortiz was much more ready being that he was knocked down about 5 times in his last 4 fights. and his 1 world title fight victory in his one and only welterweight fight.....
    but yeah....canelo aint ready...... :rofl

    love the logic here

Let me get this out there first:

Saul Alvarez can get in the ring with whoever he wants. Period. He wants Mayweather? Give it to him. Personally, I want Mayweather to sweep up these young guys up. ~ Thats the boxing fan in me.

I had completely forgotten that Saul has had 40+ fights.

He is only 22 so he is still young, but a guy with that many fights on top of youth should be a better force in the ring in my opinion.

Larry Merchant to Floyd Mayweather Jr.

When I say he isn't ready I mean based on what I've seen of him and his performance against Mosley, there is nothing there that leads me to believe he can put on a good fight against Mayweather.

Canelo needs atleast 1 big test against some of these young boxing stars before they throw him at Mayweather hoping for age to overcome the champ.

More I look at it this will be the passing of the torch and Canelo just has that something extra he should handle Kirkland if that comes off.
