Ray Leonard beat a weight-drained Tommy Hearns. Hearns weighed in at 145 for their welterweight unification bout. Dumbass *******s think the weight doesn't matter. :patsch The question is, why would a future Light Heavyweight Champion and notoriously enormous welterweight INTENTIONALLY weight-drain himself when there wasn't even a catchweight? :huh

No one can you take your seriously when you write stuff like that.....Cotto gave Floyd a good fight but every round he won, Floyd won 2!

Thats a pretty good ratio if you ask me, also this version of Cotto was a better version, he had a much better coach, was better conditioned had a much better game plan and gave it his all.

Floyd has fought very good opposition all the way through his career as well has Manny.....

    You're just being stupid....:patsch

We don't need to bring up a dead subject like this. Some of us fans are happy and have good memories of that Pacquiao-Cotto fight.

It's those people that wish to discredit that win by making excuses, that are the problem. The same people that had no issue with the catchweight before the fight, and even immediately after it, too. It's only when they got annoyed with the adulations Pac was recieving, that they decided it was time to dampen the mood and tarnish that win.

This may be one of the dumbest things I've ever read. This is a bad post and you should feel bad for it.

What agenda did he have? I think you're using that word in the wrong context?

Also when Larry Merchant interviewed him after the Mayweather fight in his locker room, he actually didnt say he walked out in protest he actually said he wanted to be with his peoples as quickly as possible - whatever that means?

I did see a quote from him saying he didnt agree with the scores but he didnt clarify what he meant....he thought he won? or he thought the fight was closer?

Also immediately after Margo was caught with the "bricks" in the Shane fight he didnt comment about that situation either it was some time afterwards he came out and said he thought Margo cheated too.

Like I said I really dont know what to think I have boxed myself and have had to get down in weight and anyone will tell you the last few pounds are really tough to get off....just ask Rios!

But to be fair here it isnt out of the realm to believe he was able to make 145 without it killing him.....I would love to have some clarity on the matter personally.

I must stress I do not see the weight being a factor in the fight (it could possibly be a factor) but I just dont see it, he fought the wrong fight for me.

Hearns weigh in 145 but LOOSE against Leonard. FACT.
Leonard weigh in at 145 against Duran the first time and LOOSE. FACT.
Benitez come in at 144.5 against Leonard AND LOOSE TOO. FACT.
Cotto come in at 145 against Pac AND LOOSE. FACT.

PEDLAND: Coincidence! We love Manny peepee! All coinicidence! Rice!

    :patsch:patsch:patsch:patsch:patsch

145 or less take too much out of a fighter AND THEY LOOSE! FACT.

Sorry, by ‘agenda’ I just meant something he was trying to negotiate in his favour. Not that he had some conspiracy brewing.

With the Mayweather defeat, he was upset with judges’ scorecards. I actually think, in the heat of the moment, he genuinely felt he won. That’s why he left and wanted to be with his people. Because after losing to Pacquiao, he still managed to stay and give an interview then. In a situation like that – where you’ve been a victim of a horrendous beating – surely you’d have more reasons to not stay? I don’t know.

And actually, he was pretty vocal about the Margarito scandal. Yeah, it did take him a bit of time to speak up, but when he did, he didn’t hold back. He even hit out at Bob Arum for it.

As for the extra pound to lose, yeah, I totally agree it can be mentally inhibiting. But when you’re in a high-profiled fight with absolutely huge rewards to reap – you know, when you’ve got the opportunity against the biggest name in the sport and the P4P champion – those additional pounds no longer seem like such a struggle. Because you’ve got your eyes on the prize. That’s why someone like Martinez will go down to 154 (and even 150!) for the likes of Pac, May and Cotto, but won’t even give it a moment of thought for Kirkland or any other junior middleweight. And to paraphrase Junior Witter when talking about Khan: “I prefer 147, but for Amir Khan, I’ll easily make 140”.
