That's what it sounds like. They want to sell his KO ratio and highlight reel in order to boost sales and have him come back early all while paying him as little as possible.

Better to make 200k in a position to make more later, than cash yourself out for cheap.

How much did Marquez make against Pacquiao in their first 2 fights?

    2.5 mil is too much.

    Ducking!!!

Wait, so the shoulder injury isn't why they called the fight off? WTF why even say that then? Not looking good for him and his team if true, he better come out with a statement saying he didn't authorize the injury story like Cotto did about the aftermath of the Floyd fight.

He shouldn't have taken the fight in the first place, I highly doubted his injury was okay. I still don't think it's okay and he just wants to be compensated as much as possible for taking a fight less than 100%.

seen as its a ppv he should be getting more than a milli based on the fact that he is rushing back from injury to save gbp's ass.

2.5 seems a bit much. maybe a milli garuntee with a small percentage of ppv on top seems fair

He's pricing himself out. 2.5 million is ridiculous.

What I find annoyin is everyone wants the big bucks but there aint nobody willin to put the work in.
i do understand its his financial adviser tellin him but someine should also advise him that he jus got a lucky as dq w and ishida did not happen long ago. If he wants a big payday, whoop canelos ass and earn the pay day if not the process to earn it is gonna take much longer since other than canelo and cotto whose a big draw at 54?

Maybe Kirkland's being advised: "Look, you're being asked to rush into a fight your shoulder's not ready for. In which case, you deserve to be paid good money. If not, then wait until you're recovered from your injury"

Which is pretty reasonable, in my opinion.

I believe this is exactly what happened, just stupid that the shoulder injury story came out as the reason for the fight not happening.. No need to put that out if this is the reason, people will ***** but they would regardless. Should have stayed with the shoulder story.
