    Exactly.

Ortiz being a MUCH bigger name than Kirkland
Mayweather being a much bigger name than Alvarez

Kirkland's greed isn't getting to him. I actually think he's being well advised.

Because it's pretty clear that he's gonna' be instrumental in Canelo's break-through (for lack of a better word) moment. That's what he, Kirkland, is being built up for. To be Canelo's most formidable opponent to date, and hopefully his most important win that will propel him [Canelo] closer to superstardom. And right now, GBP are asking Kirkland to be their sacrificial lamb by quickly prompting him to the stage while his injury won't have healed in time.

So, quite rightly, Kirkland's saying, "Fine, I'll fight at short notice with an injury, but will you pay me accordingly? Yeah, thought not". Because what's the point of fighting for $1 million at 70% and have a slim chance of winning, when you can eventually fight for that same $1 million at 100% when your chances are maximized. We need to remember that Kirkland's writing up his own script. Quite opposite to the one that's being paved for Canelo. He's planning on being the neglected monster that ends up derailing the golden child on the biggest night of his life. And to do that, he needs to be in the best physical condition.

1 million dollars is a hell of a lot for a fighter like Kirkland. If he passes this opportunity up he may never get a chance to ever make 7 figures again.

right I dont think they can do it out of principle. That being said Mayweather was the B side to Gatti and I think he got got 3mil he was already making over a mil a fight though.

ur saying kirkland is the sacrificial lamb as if it's 100% guaranteed that canelo is gonna steamroll this guy.....

did you forget that the winner of kirk vs molina was supposed to fight canelo anyways....so in all fairness, this is the fight that should've been happening instead of pwill vs canelo.....

kirkland earned his shot....sure he got a gift, but on paper he earned it

Everyone who is taking Kirkland's side is a ****in moron. Kirkland just blew the best pay day he was ever going to get and obviously doesn't have confidence that he will win or else he would take the most money he's ever going to make and whoop Canelo's ass.

2.5 milj... What about the shoulder inhury?... Man, I lost the respect for this man, let him look for a title shot and get lost and forgotten in the process. Just feel sorry for the work Ann has done to bring him back from that 1st round TKO.

    Oh, I get you.

But I'm not saying Kirkland hasn't earned his shot. He definitely has. I'm just saying, with that shoulder injury, he [Kirkland] has a valid reason for not being forced into a date where he won't have recovered in time.

And honestly, I really do believe Kirkland is being built-up to be a valuable scalp for Canelo. Out of the two, it's Canelo that GBP will be praying for a win.

it pisses me off cause he, or someone from his camp lied.....just be straight up, either yes, or no

but dont bluff in order to get more money, when you know damn well you aint 100% anyways......what happens if goldenboy calls his bluff, pays him 2.5 ??? kirkland will be forced to fight through an injury in the biggest fight of his life, and lose......then the excuses blah blah blah....last thing that boxing needs right now

i'm all for taking a stand...but dont lie

and another reason it pisses me off is, as a kirkland fan, i think he has a legit chance vs canelo
