no, no, no....:nono Published: Saturday, December 12, 2009, 6:55 PM Updated: Saturday, December 12, 2009, 10:09 PM http://www.mlive.com/mayweather/index.ssf/2009/12/floyd_mayweather_representativ.html In a highly unconventional move, representatives of Floyd Mayweather are demanding that both their fighter and Manny Pacquiao be subjected to random, Olympic-style drug testing in the weeks leading up to their proposed March 13 fight. Leonard Ellerbe, Mayweathers adviser, declined to comment whether the demand was based on suspicions, initially voiced by Floyd Mayweather Sr., and subsequently by others close to Mayweather, that Pacquiao uses performance-enhancing drugs. Im not going to get into that, Ellerbe said. But people can read between the lines. Al and I made sure this will be implemented. It is going to be done. Ellerbe stressed that This content is protected ........
Go call Pac and ask him. Anyway, it's quite simple, they didn't trust DLH to make weight. With Pac coming up from ONE fight at 135, and DLH going down, they wanted some insurance that DLH wouldn't pull a fast one. Fight THIS huge not happening due to a weight not being made puts a lot of pressure on the other fighter to continue on. See how that worked for Corrales vs. Castillo II? Nothing more then assurance. But by all means, make some big deal about that. Precedent? Drama queen...
Not making a big deal, that would be Team Pac making such a big deal out of it. it's pretty simple actually. One wanted a weight cheating clause and one wanted a steroid cheating clause. One accepted, one didn't.
the "OSDT" was never and has never been reported as part of the original contract brought over by arum to pac in manila on dec. 4, 2009.
And the point your trying to make is what exactly? Because regardless it is in the contract, so its either take it or leave it. And well TR & Pac chose to leave it.
lmao....this is more of an indictment of Mayweather than it is Pacquiao. So Floyd was OK with a 50/50 split back when Pac was less of a consistent Pay Per View player, and yet now he won't even let him touch PPV? **** sakes.
Pacquiao's stipulations seem to be very normal compared to other stipulations made by highly regarded, #1 ranked fighters. What did Pacquiao stipulate?, more money?. He sure as hell didn't try to implement new rules for this one fight, did he? There's a major difference between demanding more money or even a specific location for a fight than demanding new rules. Back then it was Mayweather's first time announcing this new rule just when Pacquiao was in line of negotiations. Why wasn't it requested for Marquez?. Far too many questions kicked in when it was first requested and a lot of laughter as well. That specific demand didn't exactly settle in as it did now nor was it accepted by the public so the reaction back then was clearly different than it is today. Which is why Pacquiao accepts the drug testing now yet demands more money in return, which is also understandable considering Pacquiao is the active fighter.
No it wasn't. As negotiations were underway and almost done for a fight in March, the coast was clear and there was no room for speculation of any sort till Mayweather randomly brought that up. The mind games played by Mayweather here were clear. He knew that if he brought this up Pacquiao's team, whom already agreed to all demands including the 50/50 split, would immediately question it and back off from it. That type of reaction would raise two types of people, those that will question if Pacquiao is cheating and those that will laugh at this demand and wonder why it wasn't requested for Marquez. Obviously Mayweather played it well and here we are today. Fact is, Arum, as all promoters, would rather save Pacquiao for someone in his stable to keep his business rolling IF Pacquiao loses. That's what all promoters do. Mayweather didn't exactly corner them to make a fight properly like Williams did to Margarito back in the day. That's exactly what Arum wants and Mayweather is making it easy for him. So both are to be blamed though Mayweather easily takes most of the blame.

Peterson: “A lot of people want to see it but they’re not gonna see it.” BoxingInsider: Mayweather doesn’t want it does he? Peterson: “Ah, that fight is not gonna be made.” BoxingInsider: You’re saying it with a lot of certainty in your voice. Peterson: “Yes sir. Yes sir. If it was gonna be made it would be made by now.” BoxingInsider: Who doesn’t want to pull the trigger? (I know Mayweather is the chicken here, just want to try to get more from the source.) Peterson: “I just don’t see it being made.” BoxingInsider: You know something but won’t say it. Peterson: [Smiles]. :think BoxingInsider: Who would win, if it was made? Just for fun? Peterson: “It’s not gonna happen.” (Keep in mind Peterson works closely with Floyd’s advisor Al Haymon in directing the career of Paul Williams.) ............
The fight could have happened but Floyd didn't want it, so mentioned drug testing. Everything else was agreed upon. When Pacquiao accepts drug testing, Mayweather offers far less than what Pacquiao deserves. If Pacquiao accepts, Mayweather will move the goalposts again. Same old ducking ****.
Roach didn't exactly demand anything ridiculous. The fight was going to be at 147 which Mayweather can make. If he goes anywhere beyond that(which ruins the fight ANYWAY) the Pacquiao team would NOT let the public's high anticipation(possibly highest ever) turn into insane frustration but would want more money for it. How is that unfair in any way?, you can't make welterweight, sure we will still fight you but want more money for it. Mayweather has no issues whatsoever making welterweight either. Did they demand a catchweight?, I don't think so.
Totally agree, this fight will never happen. People should have moved on when it failed in 2010. Even though Mayweather is to be blamed, Arum isn't exactly keen on making this happen either.
Buh? Pac wanted new rules as far as commissioned weight penalties are concerned. Of course he wanted new rules. They both did
