Just curious to know with all the drug testing drama going on around us what drug testing is like in Britain. I mean is there random testing or before and after the fight only? And do they use CIR testing? I imagine the BBBOC is responsible for managing the testing?

I don't know if this has been discussed here before or not.........

You would think a sport where people can sustain serious injuries from their opponents that drug testing was up to date and strict. Boxings drug testing is pathetic, do you really think it is in the level of sports such as cycling, athletics, even football...? No.

Even the Floyd situation, boxers don't even get tested out of competition. You could be taking steriods for 6months rebuilding and morphing your body into a better machine, but not have any fights and not get tested.

So therefore, hats off to Floyd Mayweather trying to clean up the sport. But still his policy that he want is still very small compared to other professional sports.

Curtis Woodhouse, a pro who posts on here said he has never been tested.

He's an ex pro-footballer & says he was tested regularly when he was playing football.

I would imagine the testing is almost non-existant but thats ok because all the British fighters are clean :yep

ive been a pro 6 years, NEVER BEEN TESTED, its a joke really, i think boxing needs to get out of the dark ages when it comes to drug teating, i believe we should get tested all throughout the year weather we are fighting or not, was a pro footy player for 10 years got tested on average 3 times a year, always random, they just turned up at training or matches and said we are testing you now, job done

I'm sure Amir Khan said he hadn't been tested after a couple of years as a pro

Speak up about it, get a group of professional boxers, coaches and promoters to start a campaign.

Coming from football, you have trained, performed, under a proffessional run sport somewhat when it comes to drug testing.

Even at the level you was at.

Honestly, do you ever feel the urge to join them? I.e everyones at it, if you can't beat em join em etc.

I'm sure many do. The pressure from family and friends to win, the mortgage, the fan base, the fear of losing?

As predicted that answer mate. Unfortunately the 10% seem to be at or around the top.

I suppose if you have a million pound mortgage and a win alleviates pressure financially whereas a loss puts you right in the **** then you might look for the 'help'. It's predicaments like that when fighters turn to the easy option imo.

Curtis you a G', called for you to fight Hamilton on Fearons page. Holmes the name. Wish you well and hope you get your opportunity/ies.

I've been tested over 20 times in my whole boxing carreer but I now think Olympic style drug testing is a must and I'm really scared to death of needles I really am! The thought of someone taking drugs to gain an advantage over me sends me insane! It also frightens me cos we put our lives on the line when we get in there and someone using drugs is basically cheating to hurt you IMO! I am also a firm believer in life time bans if your caught using PED's!! Ban them for life!!
