I dont see how all year round testing is a problem? Explain. Also the biggest problem with testing in boxing is the test is beatable and you know exactly when you will take it. Yes TRT is a big problem too but I think people are doing way more than just that.
The problem lies with it being incredibly easy to become a pro boxer. Will every nation have to do it? What abut boxers that fight for under the table money? Have a hard time seeing VADA tracking down joeblow in some hotel room before right week looking to administer his random test. The best way IMO is for when champions do it. But then again, with all the trinkets available it also could get pretty messy. Fighters signing on before the presser, and testing throughout camp leading up to the fight is still the best way at the moment until a national commission comes along.
The problem with these type of allegations is the fact that you automatically assume that USADA hasn't done its own research and come to the conclusion that they don't have to test as much during this time frame. When they upped the testing in the 4th quarter did they catch more cheats? What was the statistics of cheats they caught during the 4th quarter when they followed Conte's advice and upped the testing?
Testing year around costs money. Is every boxer in the world going to be tested? Why have year round testing before creating a pension for boxers?
I understand the need for year round testing. But everyone who is calling for it, has no idea the cost associated with it.
Yes, there is absolutely no incentive for governing bodies to pay for all round testing. They don't give a **** what fighters are doing, as long as they pay their fees. Add to that you have certain State Athletic Commissions who regularly host the big fights and who are VERY relaxed with their testing and what they allow a fighter to get away. Who is going to pay for it?
usada tests fighters then throw away the results. they r also extremely expensive. for moeny, u could get away with anything
More comprehensive testing is needed in such a dangerous contact sport such as boxing. Boxing is like the trenches of the sports world. It's like people don't care if people are juicing so long as they provide the knockout shots. I'm all for year 'round testing but let's get the testing implemented universally first.
Year round testing will never happen. It would require a unification of all the state boxing commissions into a National Commission, then a unification possibly of those commissions into an International Commission to be able to enforce testing and bans. Then you have to hope that the scalability of the testing would drop the cost per test to a manageable level. Fat chance on that happening after the Haye-Chisora fight.
