Just noticed Pac was P4P #1 on the July 2012 edition of The Ring Magazine while looking through the magazine section at the supermarket. On the online version, P4P #1 is still vacant. I thought they would leave it vacant until the 2 face each other in the ring or if either were to lose. Did I just ruin Sunday night for *****s? :yep
Nice to see you brought up the good news.. :happy :happy :happy Oh, I forgot.. Its a bad thing for the *****S..
Local LA supermarket, Albertsons. When I did look for The Ring in the past, I went to maybe 5 supermarkets/drug stores to finally find one. When I was a kid, The Ring magazine was to be found everywhere. Now it's just mainly big newstands or major bookstores. Sign of the times for boxing.
It's still not clear on why it's different between the actual magazine and the online rankings. But I bet any ***** who picks up a copy and takes it home, may end up beating up his girl once he reads the rankings section. :nut
That doesn't really make much sense as the stories and articles are not 2 months behind. Didn't the P4P #1 spot become vacant in early May or even late April?
No it wasn't until the week after Floyd's Cotto win that Pac got dropped from #1. The P4P ranking is usually compiled a month before it gets published.
If that is truly the case, that is bad for the magazine and it's sales. The issue I saw was July 2012, which probably just came out because there were like 20 copies of it in the magazine stand. If they name an issue a month ahead and publish April rankings, who the hell would spend their money on old news?
I believe the ratings period in the magazine was towards the end of April 2012. After Floyd beat Cotto is when Ring made their statement regarding the P4P situation.
That is lame for the magazine to publish April rankings for their "July issue". Oscar needs to get his magazine more in tune with actual recent events.
No one spends their money on the mag anymore. it's why you never see it other than in the most random stores. Fight results, rankings, etc. are always a month or so behind.
