Robinson is the best middleweight Ive seen on film with my own eyes. He`s not the greatest though because of his retirement. If Greb is as great as his record suggests and he can take Robinson`s wicked combinations then I guess he would have a good shot with his pressure and speed. I dont see a knockout here either way. Id be more comfortable making a pick if I could base it on some actual footage of Greb.
Not that I care mate. I agree with a lot of stuff you say which the majority of people here don't. I like the old stories, but if that is your idea of a joke then I recommend you to not give up your day job. Also clothes older than 18 years :yikes Get your daughter to take you shopping.
LaMotta had success against bigger fighters, even heavyweights. Didnt stop Robinson from taking 5 out of 6 against him.
is greb credited with adapting during fights? he will have never seen anyone like robinson b4 what truth do you guys give to the idea greb was badly matched against fighters he couldn't outspeed?
first i hate fantasy fights especialy ones that dont pit guys that weigh about the same..with that being said ive always felt the top fantasy fight would be greb vs robinson.first nobodies getting knocked out.both were extra tough had guts big time and 2 ultimate warriors.robinson had skill over greb.punch also.greb had workrate agression and was one fighter that made friz zivic look like a clean fighter.both fought the whos who of boxing.robinson would have to be at his very best to win since greb will extend him to the limits.greb also better be at his very best..if they are i see a 3 fight series with robinson wining 2 out of 3.all SD where one point seperates them over 15 rounds.
tough battle of 2 very great fighters, no one really knows but both of them came from thick middleweight era's....Greb beat more of the big men 160-up and quality they could fight 10 times and with mixed results
Win or lose, Robinson struggled big time with just about every middleweight he faced, whether they were great(LaMotta, Fullmer, etc) or just "good"(Holly Mims, Georgie Abrams, etc). Greb had a few tough bouts with MWs here and there but for the most part pasted even the greatest ones over the long haul. Keep in mind that he fought greater MWs than Robby and this becomes an even more impressive feat. At their best Greb trims Robinson.
He fought Fullmer well past his prime. The one fight with LaMotta where they were both middleweights Robinson beat the tar out of him. He destroyed Olson, Graziano and Turpin {when he was prepared}. Robinson`s prime as a middleweight was a pretty small window.
I agree. That's why it's hard for me to understand why some consider him a lock to beat Greb, who was the greatest MW of all time. I wouldn't say that the LaMotta that SRR beat the tar out of was Jake at his best either. He was nearing the end of his career, had been killing himself to make it down to the MW limit and looked pretty lackluster in his 2 title defenses. In their other fights he gave SRR hell. As far as Olson and Graziano go, neither can be considered very rugged or durable. When SRR fought rugged, durable MWs he was usually given hell. Greb usually beat them silly. (great avatar, btw! :goodIke was a good friend...)
