What are your thoughts on the game plan to beat Mayweather??????? I think is essential to attack the body for beating Mayweather , is hard to hit his body but not as hard as his chin. Also because is almost impossible to hit Mayweather's chin the opponent should aim for the upper part of his head like temples and eyes throwing them from overhand punch angle like Chuck Liddell's right overhand punch , that angle is the weakness of the Philly Shel defense or at least thats my thought. Also a big key for defeating Mayweather is feinting. With feints is easier to hit a good defensive fighter like Floyd. Shane Mosley feint him really well with the left jab to the body and then hit Mayweather on the CHIN with the right and almost knock him down. What you think????
the body head attack tends to work because thats how mosely, cotto, Zab, and Corley cought him sometimes so i agree with you there. but another thing that Id say is a counter uppercut to his overhand right. If a fighter steps to their left and counter that overhand right with an uppercut they can prolly do it. the person would have to be athletic enough to pull it off for example a Berto, Alexander, Pacquiao, Khan, Bradley just one of those guys whos quick enough to move their feet and pull it off. Martinez prolly 2. another thing I think can beat floyd is an ambush fighter with a jump in and out kinda style so if they hit mayweather they back out of his range of counter punching. Also Akward punching and angles. Akward meaning like a smaller version of Sakio bika kinda. and also (before I say this I dont wanna hear a ***** Chew my ass about this, and I dont wanna hear A ******* Suck my dick because of it) But like pacquiao when it comes to Akward angles. I dont think heavy pressure will do it because floyd is a good inside fighter and a great body puncher and floyd learned from that first fight with castillo on how to handle pressure.
The problem is, can the gameplan be executed. Some guys that actually got some success we're Castillo who had a gameplan but talent wise below Mayweather, and Judah who had the talent but seems to have left his gameplan along new york harbor. It is a perfect gameplan, plus some sprinkling of body work to slow him down, patience and stamina for a fight that will definitely go the distance, and the talent that can match him (handspeed, better punching power, solid chin etc). That's the way to see Mayweather lose.
I would say constant pressure and high volume punching. Sometimes floyd has a tendency when being pressured to go 100% defensive and not answer back enough, and judges will give rounds to the other guy based on activity even though floyd is blocking/slipping most of the punches. Not exactly a winning blueprint but I think it’ll keep you in the fight more so than trying to play chess.
Floyd is very consistent at countering body punches. I don't know why fighters constantly try to target his body. He's vulnerable to straight punches. You're won't be able to catch him cleanly on the outside, but as soon as you trap him in a corner against the ropes, you have to target his face and aim your punches upstairs.
Damn, beat me to it. You take a gun and you shoot him. Then you shoot him again because one bullet wont be enough. Then you try to punch him. If it dont work then get a bigger gun and repeat the process.
You cant just work upstairs. Go downstairs to set it all up but you are one the money. Cotto got him by going down and then up.
I think you need someone like Berto, good hand speed good power and will throw wild haymakers all night, Bertos one of the only boxers who could probz catch Floyd with a good few powerful shots because of his handspeed, but then again his accuracy is terrible
