Why did Golota only go spastic mode in fights he couldn't win

Is it because all Polish people are massive mongos when under pressure?

Golota was a nutter. He fled Poland cos of some altercation in a nightclub where a knife was alledgedly involved. When he got to the States he wanted to be a truck driver and leave boxing behind.

Tyson plain scared him and he wanted outta there

What does confuse me more is why did he quit in bouts he COULD win and WAS winning.
He was schooling Bowe in both bouts before he went flipmode (HBOs Legendary Nights did an episode on the bout - really good) and against Grant he was ahead on the judges scorecard and had put Grant down twice, yet he went down the one time and thought 'nah I dont want this'

Apart from that he did have a pretty decent record with a lot of good names on it. Could have been a lot better more highly regarded had he had a bit more heart and mental strength.

....did love the look on his face when Lennox dropped him though, kind of said 'what the flying f**k just hit me'

 

He also did it in fights he was winning!

If Golota had ducked Lewis and went straight to Tyson. It would have been a war. I got Golota by TKO around the 8th.

But Golota was just taken apart by Lewis.

That could have been a great battle if the schedule had gone like that. Im still inclined to think Tyson would have won (if he was able to get by the 79" reach of Golota - no mean feat) but we'll never know eh!?
