what it comes down to is Floyds better than all of us here so is Cotto and so was Kostya Tsyzu.

If it really messes up Punching mechanics which is complete ****,
these fighters would have not been doing so well in the ring.

Really? So you can do 100% technically correct punches while holding weights? No. You have to change the mechanics of the punch to allow for the weight. Think about it. A punch is a technical movement pattern you teach your body over thousands and thousands of repetitions. If you go changing the mechanics it isn't doing much good for your punching technique.

You're still using the "But the pros do it so I'll just copy them" argument?

You ask for opinions and thoughts then when others don't agree with what you think you say they're talking **** or they're making excuses. Pointless making this thread don't you think?

Well if Floyd Mayweather and Kostya Tsyzu punches mechanincs are messed up then im fine with it being like that. (Sarcasm)

Its a muscular endurance thing your not pivoting your body behind the punches not working on technique/snap or anything its not a technique excercise.

Is this seriously meant to prove your point, your repeated appeal to authority argument? You've been told multiple times it's just dumb. As you were told a page or two back, somebody can become good in spite of what they do not because of it.

Unless you're saying Mayweather is in the position he is in now purely because he holds weights when he throws punches your argument is null.

As said before, I personally do it more for a warmup / muscle endurance method. Sometimes i just go body square and do 1 2s in between rounds. Also as said above, i dont even pivot and 'snap' the shot. And yes Virus, the 'The pros do it so it must be good' is very useful because they wouldn't do it for years if it wasn't beneficial. Also, you mentioned thousands of repetitions. People dont (usually) go 3-5 rounds straight shadowboxing with them every single session. Some just do 2 minutes to warm up, others use it as an excercise between rounds.

And they were proved wrong.. If i see SOLID proof that using weights just to warm up or as an exercise is not beneficial then yes i'll agree and be a man and say i was wrong. Till then, no.

You're throwing out a claim it has benefits, you have the burden of proving this not the other way around. Lets throw this the correct way around and you give us proof of the benefits. Don't mention any pro's, it's pointless and doesn't prove a thing.

It improved my hand speed greatly. Plus I like doing it as part of my work out since i'm very bored with doing too much bag work.

I've never injured a joint or ligament. My body doesn't injure easily though.

It puzzles me why so many people on here argue for and against certain methods so passionately.

Why not just try something for yourself and see if it works for you? If it injures you or messes up your punching motion then stop doing it.

Different things work for different people.

I used Hand Weights 45 years ago, before educating myself. There are much better ways, Elastic, Rubber, have the same mechanical Balance as, Muscle and joints. Plus the response is the same Feel for the Leverage. Feel is what the CNS, Responds To, simple really.

I didnt need help, i was looking for experiences/thoughts with using light weights shadow boxing,
NOT warnings from people who cant be bothered to do something.

i just hate comments from ppl who dont do something and claim they know it all, to which my reply is Floyd Cotto Kostya tsyzu do it and have done it for years.

Which is more evidence than someone sitting on a computer talking bs. Anyone can talk.

it works, but there are better ways of doing things. You have the right idea about the endurance part, while alot of people think it increases speed but it's dangerous if you do it wrong. You do change the punching mechanics but it's up to your body to recognize when to punch a different way. Just because it didnt mess with their punching mechanics or w.e the **** anyone was talking about doesn't mean it won't affect you. There needs to be larger studies on everyday people not someone as talented as that man or cotto or tsyzu
