Agree with this for the most part. Also, Hopkins and Ward deserves mentioned.

Guys i would agree whole heartedly that Mayweather has a great chin, but have we really seen him take enough heavy shots to put him in the very elite level?

If you compare him to say Mosley or Froch for example we've seen them get hit clean with heavy shots probably a 1000x more than Floyd?

Because that is all that he's good at. Other than against a guy like Abraham, he isn't capable of outboxing. Abraham, Ward, and Kessler all have better chins that Froch.

The point of boxing it to hit and NOT GET HIT.

I think you missed my point, if were talking about best defence obviously Mayweather is number 1 without doubt.

But we're talking about chins, and what i'm saying is, we've seen Mosley and Froch get hit clean so much more times than Floyd, it's easier to judge.

So just to clarify, i'm talking about chins, not defence.

See Peter_1987's post. . . Chin, and defense do not necessarily coincide. . . Two separate, and distinct concepts.

This. . . I agree with you 100%. . . However, since we are not "official chin-checkers", we must stand down to the reasoning of Metal Mandible, and the others. . .

So basically, a best chins list is reserved for guys who have shitty defense.

You are completely missing the point.

We're not speaking about defence here, we're speaking about who has the best chin.

Defence is irrelevant in this discussion as we are discussing chins.

and what i'm saying is, because we have seen Froch and Mosley get hit clean so much more times than Floyd it's easier to judge that one particular attribute.

I'm not denying Mayweather's defence is brilliant (i think it's the best in boxing)

But that is not the discussion here!

I assume you've watched Froch v Pascal. Its basically 12 rounds of two guys taking flush shots and not flinching. Real fun to watch.

I'm not missing the point. You said that you can't put Mayweather's chin near the top because he hasn't been hit enough. He and guys like Ward, don't get hit. So since they have great defense we don't get to see their chins tested that much. So what I'm asking is, are you only reserving your list for people that you see get rocked every fight (because their defense is ****)?

Your putting words in my mouth.

I never said it was reserved for people with **** defence, i simply stated it was easier to judge Froch's and Mosley's chin because they get hit more (a lot more)

So no, not reserved for people with poor defence, they are just easier to judge.

Look at it like this, we see Froch take maybe 20-30 power shots every fight, we see Mayweather take maybe 2 or 3 every fight.

Common sense says, it's easier to judge Froch's chin, understand?

And if you look back to my original post, you'll see i never denied Mayweather had a great chin.
