Johnson does get undersold - sure, he's lost a few more than he's won at the very top level but he's still a ****ing good fighter, who will continue teaching young upstarts a lesson for as long as he wants, or convincingly defeating B & C level fighters.

Stylistically he matches up favourably with Froch too, being obviously very tough and quite cute defensively, and a good inside fighter, where Carl struggles badly.

It's a pretty underrated win for me, styles make fights, Froch showed intelligence to box rather than fight (not for the first time) and got the W relatively comfortably.

    :deal

Criteria changes according to the man who he's debating.

A win over a man who goes on to achieve plenty either in that weight division or another is SURELY better than one over a man who retires, or suffers back to back KO losses afterwards and then goes on to start fighting bums, SURELY?

You can cite any number of examples, Vitali Klitschko was a bit of a nobody when he fought Lewis, and despite being about 100 years old and way past his best is still the #2 HW almost a decade later, incorporating a four year layoff - so the ''level'' of victory is high.

This is contrary to (say) Calzaghe beating Lacy, who barely won another fight afterwards, and was bashed up and stopped by the corpse of Roy Jones.

    :rofl

Your post below, with your question in
    This content is protected

We were talking about the fighters Froch beat, mainly ones that had come from other divisions like Taylor, Abraham and Johnson.
    So I answered with this
I had to repeat it to you because it was too much for you

I explain the difference to you. Now you throw an insult (top post) because you cannot answer to the points given to you. :hi:
    Popkins serial ducker, schooled again.
You have to remember that when people resort to name calling on here without answering a post and addressing questions and points issued to them, its a sign that they just cannot answer. You have fallen into that one

What has Dirrell, Taylor, Johnson or Abraham done at SMW? and remember that Froch barely beat 3 of those.

Don't forget Joe Calzaghe beat Veit x2 (who went on to beat a few world champions), Bika, Brewer, Woodhall and di a bit up LHW too.

It's a shame Froch turned this fight down when the offer was made, he wasn't ready for it tbh but Calzaghe would have just destroyed him and Froch wouldn't have gotten the oppourtunities he has and would have just been another so called "Eurobum" on his record.

I think a lot of Joe C's wins like Veit, Brewer, Mitchell etc. are under rated compared to ones like Abraham etc. which are over rated really. in all fairness toFroch though, he was willing to take these fights when Calzaghe wasn't until later on in his career.

You've just copied and pasted most of that, yet again.

Though I do agree that some fighters can be ruined, I'm not convinced that Lacy was all that good anyway.

Hopkins took care of Trinidad, but Tito had a long spell out before raping Mayorga and then taking a fight against a man who he'd never have beaten in a million years in Wright.... the ''ruining'' might be overstated.

I think Marquez ruined Diaz, Diaz put on a career best performance before eventually being broken down and stopped.... never the same afterwards.

Let's be honest, there was nothing comfortable about Froch'swin over Johnson, he nearly lost be honest now don't chane the past. Johnson was robbed against Dawson though.

Diaz was losing his heart for the sport at that time. Lacy really badly tore his rotator cuff in the bout after Calzaghe. How you gona get motivated after being destroyed and getting your rotator cuff torn in 2 fights?
Lacy was a former Olympian and IBF/IBO champ, we can't just ignore that. He beatReid better than Froch could and Reid had just beaten Magee.. Lacy smashed Vanderpool all not long after Vanderpool gave B-Hop a hard fight.

Yeah I agree, I don't give a **** how the judges scored it Taylor won pretty much every round against Froch until the last 10 seconds. I thought Froch just beat Dirrell though, I just don't like the way Dirrell runs.

No, but that's what happens when you face good fighters.

Especially one who had a big opportunity like Johnson had.... and Froch still emerged a pretty clear winner.

Diaz was bang up for that fight, Marquez was just too good for him. It was only afterwards that his desire had gone.... there's no way a man who put on that kind of performance could ever be losing their bottle.

If he was he wouldn't have taken the fight.

As for Lacy, might have been IBF champ but he was still the stereotypical overhyped opponent, a few highlight reel KO's and all of a sudden he was superman.

If we see Canelo in with Mayweather or Broner in with Marquez we'll see two more hyped fighters being taught a serious lesson by the top dogs - that's just the way it is when you manufacture ''champions''.

Why not just say ''I don't like Froch'' instead of typing out all that guff.

You put so much effort into your posts, but you're such a ****head that I only need to make very succint replies to utterly shatter your brittle, shitty arguments.

Which is the better win Failey...

    - Aaron Pryor TKO14 Alexis Arguello @ 140

, BUT was a 3-weight world king at the time of the fight and on a 16-0 (12 KOs) win run since his last loss, including victories over Escalara, Limon, Chacon, Castillo, Boza-Edwards, Ramirez, Watt, and Mancini

    or

    - Virgil Hill SD12 Henry Maske @ 175

. The best opponents he beat in this run were Graciano Rocchigiani, Prince Charles Williams and probably Iran Barkley.

To anyone with a brain, even one as puny as yours, Pryor-Arguello is light years ahead of Hill-Maske. Thus, your whole criteria over rating wins is ****ed, because you clearly prize achievements-at-the-weight above all else since it's always your main and major point in these debates - and Maske was 11-0 in lhw title fights, whereas Arguello was 0-0 in lww title fights (and ended his career 0-2 in lww title fights).

    Criteria decimated. :smoke

I'd advise you to watch the Taylor fight again.

He lost most of the later rounds, from round 7 onwards.

If Froch 'nearly lost' to Glen Johnson, didn't Calzaghe get utterly butt****ed by Robin Reid? The same Robin Reid who got owned in style by Sugarboy Malinga?

You obviously didnt see the Reid/Malinga fight because very little happend it at all.

    Reid

Ask yourself this. How could you not score rounds 2, 3, 4,7, 8 (

), 12 to Calzaghe? Remember Reid had a point deducted also.

I thought like 2 judges that Calzaghe was a clear winner and except for McCrory who scored a draw and later seemed to agree all of the other studio guest scored wide for Calzaghe including Mcguigan and Eubank. I also think damaged handed (damaged his hand in round 4) Calzaghe won and felt he won rounds 1, 9 (Reid did land the punch of the night in round 9 though) & 11.

    Good away win for Calzaghe

I actually rate Pascal but at the time I didn't make much of the win. He was drained imo, nearly won as well tbh, that 118-110 card was a ****ing disgrace.

    Calzaghe
    - Kessler (best version ever)
    - Eubank (Ledgend)
    - Lacy (IBF/IBO champ)
    - Reid (very under-rated champ)
    - Bika (tough guy, would beat Abraham imo)
    - Veit (didn't lose many and beat some good guys like Jergen Brahmer)
    - Mitchell (Had just lost his WBA title in a debatable SD to Ottke)
    - Brewer (only lost an SD to Ottke, Former IBF champ)
    - Woodhall (former WBC champion)

He also did well at light heavy against a B-Hop who imo was peak and cheating like a *******.

Froch on the other hand has took hard fights away from home, and took them consistantly, which Calzaghe just wasn't able to do as he got injured a lot so you have to give Froch props for that.

I recon all are Froch's greatest strengths are just Calzaghe's strengths as well accept Calzaghe had even more to his game. Maybe Froch has a better reach and a little more power than a peak Calzaghe but Calzaghe was much faster, southpaw, better boxer, much better at adapting, better work rate, just as tough, just as fit if not fitter etc.
