It is time that we start taking Peter Quillin Serious

No, not when other top 10 middleweights are fighting each other while Quillin is taking weak in-house Golden Boy fights.

And no also because I don't think this fight necessarily he demonstrated he was world class. A 40 year old, winless in 6 years, inactive for 4 years Winky Wright was still competitive in the vast majority of the rounds. Quillin stands way too still waiting for counters for my liking and was moving straight back quite often as well. This doesn't even mention how often he was eating jabs from Winky, and it's very easy to see guys like Martinez and Sturm planting him with them all night.

 

for a guy with very little defensive skills who seems easy to hit, he spends far too much time on the ropes for my liking. he's still learning and has a lot of room for improvement. the winky fight was one that added to his knowledge. he's not ready for martinez or any of the top guys just yet. give him a few more development fights. he's in the right hands and has been steadily improving.

 

Kid hasnt done anything, Rust beat Winky, kid is decent but nothing to take serious yet besides he is out of Wildcard he probably roids up right along side pac right?

 

He's only 26 years old with loads of potential in skill and character, don't rush him. Match him with decent fighters like Alvin Ayala, Giovani Lorenzo, Lujan Simon, Brian Vera and even Sergio Mora. Match him with explosive punchers like Martinez, Golovkin, Pirog, or even a tough grinder like Macklin and it could have a serious setback on a promising career.

 

NO beat a past it boxer he is not ready for the best.

 

Needs to prove himself alittle more, but he does have potential. Definitely not ready for Sergio.

Two weeks from this and he is 29 years old. And some guys you mentioned he should not fight I dont agree.

Them Golovkin, Pirog, Macklin, N'Dam N'Jikam, Quillin etc should be fighting against each other.

I think he has potential though,he has that hunger you love to see in young fighters

 

I see a guy that's hittable and sloppy with his punches. He may be naturally heavy handed, but his punching mechanics are amateur at best.

I don't know if he has a chin, but he needs one if he plans on facing a precision power puncher like Martinez.

Honestly, from what I saw against Winky, I can't see Quillin winning the fight, and more than likely he gets knocked out.

I don't see him getting past Lee either. I expected to be impressed with this guy, but instead, I saw a tough guy with some athleticsm throwing a lot of wild punches.

I agree with what Winky said about him. He was sloppy and wild in there. A younger Winky would have picked him apart, despite the size difference.

In fact, the only reason this guy won in my opinion was due to his youth and size.

 

He is a guy who I want to see fight again, and soon. The jury is still out on him as far as I'm concerned, but he definitely has some passion.

 

Quillin needs to take it slow, if he fights a Golovkin, Pirog, or Lee now he gets destroyed. His career is being managed by those that know what he is capable of. Maybe another 5-6 years he can fight a legit journeyman.
