If Liam Smith is the brother that looks nothing like Paul or Stephen? He seems ok.

People only really seem to bang in about Paul & Stephen.

When a ****** fighter loses, they rarely tend to get back into a big fight via legit fights that will allow us to gauge their credibility, improvement or realistic chances.

Paul Smiths fights after losing to DeGale were **** opponents but it was the manner of his victories which helped the hype for the Groves fight. Similarly Stephen Smiths fights after losing to Selby were **** opponents but the manner of 2 of those wins were good. However Selby is moving onto bigger things with better victories so I don't blame anyone for not shouting for the rematch.

****** doesn't want his guys to lose and ruin the money fight. Same old boxing bull****.

I don't think he's the type of guy that is ever going to beat Selby. Just doesn't have enough about him to deal with what Selby has. Smith's the type of guy that's 'okay' at a lot of things but ultimately very easy to hit. Theres nothing he's particularly special at, but he's decent at this level.

Problem is Selby's the most improved fighter going around at the moment, rangy, counters well, knows how and when to dig in, he has that edge in a lot of departments.

Look at the first 4 rounds of Smith/Simpson I.

Smith looked really good, picking Simmo off and boxing nicely, he looked like the prospect we all thought he was, then all of a sudden he starts throwing wild punches, holding..and really making it a messy fight, got a slightly lucky decision IMO.

Then he hooks up with Gallagher and all of a sudden he's John Murray reincarnated, the style just doesn't suit him at all.

He's probably one of the most talented domestic fighters we have, and one of the most ******ed at the same time.

I have got to echo the consensus here , Smith has looked gradually worse since going to Gallagher , he's doing nothing he's learned along the way , he has bad habits , he doesn't look very fit , he's leaning in with almost all of his shots , he is not slipping anything !!!! , he doesn't look right

Yeah, pretty much 90% of boxers who have boxed a certain way all there life, can't completely rejuvenate there style over the course of 18 months, it's near on impossible.

Smith is just as much to blame for picking Gallagher and even when his performances and results have been poor, he still doesn't leave.

Stephen has to leave Joe and go back to basics, maybe even head back to his amateur coach (Like Bellew did) Tony looks a completely different fighter.

I used to love watching Smith box in the Am's. Maybe he's just not
suited to the pro's? Or maybe as Beeston said go back to his old amateur
trainer, it's worked for Tony Bellew.

Smith got away with murder in the rematch, the holding was ridiculous

I know, what do you expect though, Stephen was one of Frank's golden boys at the time, he'd have slipped the ref a few quid.

I had Simmo winning both fights.

Stephen is winning and that's all that's important, I hunk he deserves a rematch! I mean he gave Selby his shot show he should return the favour IMO, I'd like to see it and I for one think it would be a different outcome, Stephen is someone I've known many many years and he looked exhausted in the ring after 1 round that night, he is one of the fittest people I have ever trained with! He has an unbelievable engine so to tired after 1 round just isn't him and that's me being honest.. Get the rematch on and lets see what happens.. I back Stephen for what it's worth ;-)
