This is a very defensive post.

If you think denigrating every other SMW in history will somehow accentuate Joe Calzaghe's stature then who I am to tell you otherwise?

If I ever start to labour under the misapprehension that that any man, women or beast who has ever thrown a punch in their life and weighed 168lbs at that time is even 1/3481384892374982374892379482394th of the man Joe Calzaghe is, rest assured. I'll come and e-find you :blurp.

Bute just lacks the skills and Chin to mix it with the big boys. He was a paper champion, nothing more.

    Where is the denigrating?
You have made an accusation that you cannot back up.
I just call on details, if you have been someone who has been owned on that front, too bad, your problem. But as said I was at the event as a fan, so hardly denigrating.
Calzaghes career is over and safe because he still overshadows the current division, so no need for you to come and find me, you wont be able to tell me anything I dont already know.

Sorry if me calling you a dummy for making a wild accusation upset you so much. I never knew you were so sensitive :|

He needs to forget about 168 and get those legs thickened up and get up to 175.
He has no powers of recovery and his thin legs will be a significant factor in that.

No, it wasn't nerves, it was what I said all along, that he was garbage. he fought pretenders, was protected at the bell centre, and was hyped by the montreal and quebec fans. He was exposed and that was that. Take the rematch in montreal then if he thinks he can win. Bute sucks!!!!

I just think he got hit and couldn't recover. Tried the rope a dope with his hands down, and got caught again.

    He'll be back.

I have to agree that fan hype has alot to answer for.

He did in fairness have success in wins over IBF SMW champ Berrio, Andrade the #3 and #5 SMW, Bika a top 10 SMW, Johnson who somehow was a top 10 SMW.
Thats 5 wins over top 10 SMWs

That's how I saw it. He was fighting fine, seemed relaxed enough to me considering the circumstances..........until he got caught.

I'll admit I was surprised that some of those shots hurt him, as they didn't seem to be all that bad, but hey, It's isn't me getting punched in the face.

Not sure it was nerves that could account for him not being able to take a shot that night. BUt it certainly could have been somewhat of a factor, just not the drving factor in my book. If he had looked dominated in round 1, or in round 2 before he got hit and hurt, I might be more inclined to say it was nerves.

I don't like making excuses for any man but I do think Bute under estimated Froch. I think he was reading his own press clippings...expecting an easy fight based on how Ward dominated and went out executing the WRONG game plan for a guy like Carl. You live and you learn.

I dont get all this. Why look for excuses? These guys arent some scrubs, they're professional fighters, champions. Its not like this was Bute's first fight.

If he had cold feet or whatever its his own damn fault. If he feels his team didnt do its job properly then change it. If he feels he could have done better, then do it. Use what you learned from that fight.

All i know is ive seen a fight where boxer A murdered boxer B. Thats it, no matter the reasons. I myself feel he could have done a lot better but that doesnt matter. They both prepared for the fight and the outcome was what youve all seen.

I dont care how he felt, i dont care if he didnt like the weather, i dont care if the zodiac said he'd lose, i dont care that he changed his music etc.

All i care about is his next fight where he shows if he's improved or not.

bailey is so confounded by the Froch win over Bute (and it's implications for Calzaghe's legacy) that he's had to stay up late at night working to sort it all out. The fruit of his labor is the "Bute got nervous" defense. This is intended to deny Froch any credit for beating Bute, thereby weakening any claim that his legacy is equal or superior to Calzaghe's (meanwhile, bailey is doing is all to rehabilitate the reputation of Jeff Lacy and to preempt any credit Ward might get for a win against Dawson).

This is all incredibly transparent, as usual.
