Former Strikeforce heavyweight Brett Rogers (11-4 MMA, 0-0 BFC) has signed with Bellator and will make his promotional debut later this month at Bellator 71.

Bellator officials today announced the signing, though an opponent wasn't disclosed.

Rogers is stuck in a 1-4 skid and has fought just once since September, due in part to his arrest stemming from a domestic dispute. However, he said those issues are now behind him.

Personally i would have liked to have seen Rogers in the UFC.

Bellators heavy division is barely one up from a regional bush league. Id imagine Rogers could win the title or at least be a perennial contender. But his career isn't going to go anywhere there.

Agreed. There's more entertaining fights there at least. Even if the promotion is a bit of a joke at heavy. Maybe Rogers wanted a steady income...

Probably wanted to stay closer to home...Im not making that joke...

But the only Bellator HW Im aware of is Ricco Rodriguez, if he's still there even. They really need to get a UK TV deal sorted, or have they already and Im being a spaz?

Wow. I'm not sure whether to be impressed or to feel bad for the guy. Ricco was a promising talent once. Dudes been around for aeons. But surely its time to hang them up and pursue a new career!?

Definitely, or maybe another stint on celebrity rehab. **** feeling sorry for the guy, he's a piece of ****. Makes Rogers look like GSP

He reminds me a lot of Mark Kerr. Just another drug addict who could never get his life together.

Well he's in his mid 30's at a guess now, dude could conceivably still be in the UFC if he had stayed on the straight and narrow and in shape

Kerr's a nice guy with some demons, Ricco is just a class A *****.Give him his dues though, solid upper top 10 HW in his prime

Oh easily. He was an excellent ADCC calibre grappler. I remember watching him roll with Kerr. Kerr routinely owned him mind you. I'm sure he won some ADCC tournament of some description though. And mid 30's? That dude was fighting since the late 90's? I would have thought he was at least approaching 40's or around Kerr's age?
