Hi guys, my friend who's a pro fighter wants to get your opinions on rival equipment, he's had hand trouble lately and he's thinking of buying sparring gloves, do any of you rate rival ? Any help would be appreciated
Tell him to stop being a ***** and use his regular gloves. They're all pretty much the same if the padding is intact.
I might be biased since I know who's the boss of Rival Equipments, but from what I could read, they make pretty high quality stuff! They look cool too! :hey
Where are you based, the US or UK? I am friendly with the guys who run the UK side of the business and have access to a lot of there equipment. What gloves is he looking to get??
Never used Rival before, not very attractive. Stay away from Reyes if you've got hand trouble. Great for fights but horrible for training especially on the bag. Twins are a pretty good all round cost effective leather glove for sparring, bag and mitts. Very reasonably priced for a leather glove. As Boxing Fanatic said earlier Winning gloves are pretty well padded, affectionately known as "pillows".
I personally found the Longsdale sparring gloves comfortable (10 oz) but it depends on the fighter at times I know Mayweather who has had countless hand problems spars with Grant gloves, they seem to have a lot more padding than most or that might just be me Sadly Ive only had the the pleasure of using Addidas, Reebok, Longsdale and another british brand that I cant remember the name of and found longsdale hurt my hands less on the bags, never had the problems Another thing could be with how he is wrapping his hands, ive heard taping the outside of the wraps helps and see most pro fighters do this out of interest where is he based?
Cheers for your help, he's based in Wales he's 2-0 and beat Darren Edwards and Ashley theophane as an Amatuer
