The right style to beat a prime Wladimir Klitschko?

First off, I like your style. Very well thought out points.

However I don't believe jack could get past wlad's jab. If he did I can't see him avoid the clinch wlad will throw around him.

In terms of controlling range wlad is one of the hw greats. There's only two men I think could beat him on the outside.

By my estimation jack would have to land a solid 5 punch combo to do wlad. I just can't see him gettin the chance.

The more jack attacks, the greater his chances of being stopped are.

Not only do I think wlad is a better h2h force than jack, I think wlad is more skilled p4p.

 

Do you think thaqt Wlad could fight as well on the inside as Willard?

Wlad is a great fighter, but he has one serious weakness.

If you watch ther Moran fight, he maintained distance in part by uppercutting Moran whenever he got close.

I honestly think that Willards greatest problem, is the fact that he is judged mainly on the Dempsey fight.

Dempsey didn't do that to him because Willard lacked skills.

Dempsey did that to him because he was able to neutralise every tool that Willard had!

I agree because things that Wlad and Vitali do today were done by Williard. If you watch his fight with Jack Johnson, who looked like a heavyweight version of Bernard Hopkins, despite Johnson's speed and precision punching, he got many of his combinations blocked by Williards hands and shoulder rotations; the same routations used by Wlad and Vitali today.

I will be honest plenty of those shots did get through, but much of that is due to Johnson's precision and timing that very few fighters throughout history would be able to escape.

I will say that Wlad has a tighter defense and a quicker response than Williard, and Williard is more similar to Vitali in his physical skills, and how he tends to hold his hands low, but he also lacks the durability and inside fighting ability that Williard had. At the same time, he too had a counterpunching style like Wlad, but was not as athletic as Wlad despite being more durable.

I'd also pick Jack Johnson to beat Wlad. He is very crafty, fast and incredibly strong. He throws tight and compact combinations and he isn't afraid to lead.

Honestly, the more I watch of Jack Johnson, the more I respect him as a fighter, but I'm sure there is quite a bit of dissent concerning his skillset and ability in this forum.

To each their own, but I try to be objective, and honestly, Jack Johnson would probably be a difficult night for anybody, just like Hopkins is a difficult night for any fighter.

 

He ain't no puzzle. You get a hard puncher with a good chin and an aggressive style and you get yourself a dead Wlad. Chris Arreola! Wlad's going down! That is if he gets passed Tony Thompson.

 

A prime Corrie Sanders.

Big, powerful southpaw with incredibly fast hands. All it takes is one punch from Sanders and it'll put Wlad into panic mode.

Like Pac, Sanders is dangerous in that he can hit you with punches you can't see coming from the southpaw stance. Sanders' handspeed was too much Wlad.

 

I guess what the TS meant was: At least the same handspeed as Wlad...

I do believe he already got passed Tony Thompson. And he will probably do the same again, more emphatically, because he has improved while Thompson has not proven to do such

You Classicists seem so self assured that you have a patent and simple solution to Wladmir, as though his 40 million USD net worth were merely an accident, a piece of low hanging fruit which any burly, mustachioed fellow off the docks with a decent punch could claim as his own. Well, sorry to inform you, he has dominated the division for 7 years, longer than Holmes, longer than Marciano, as long as Johnson, far longer than Dempsey could lay claim to (isn't it convenient to avoid an entire race of potential opponents?) and all the while he fought real heavyweights, not an accumulation of part-time "scrappers", tough-guys and breadline rejects, real professional, 200+ pound athletes...

Wlad can't fight on the inside, what he can do is stop anyone else from fighting there.

 

Ive only read the first page of this thread so far but I must say it has been the most honest discussion I have ever seen of Wladimir on ESB. Bravo guys.

I'm sure it'll turn into the "usual" but for now I can be impressed.
