Seamus, that's what the thread is about...finding the right qualities and attributes to beat Wlad. Of course people will have opinions, that's exactly what I want.
Feel free to disagree...but opinion is what drives any thread, not so?

Also, most here have been very respectful to Wlad, and I don't see the need to attack the opponents of other fighters.

I don't see anybody out pointing Wlad, he's too smart. And I don't see anybody repeating what Sanders did ten years ago, again he's too smart. All these bums and their online huggers should bow down.

Firstly you need to take away his jab which is greatest weapon. Either you have to have a better jab, which unless your named Holmes or Ali you simply won't have or you need the head movement, agility, work rate and aggression to be able to get passed the jab and get on the inside.

Once inside you need the physical size and strength to not be manhandled by Wlad and to be able to free yourself from his holding tactics to be able to work on the inside. Both Chisora and Lewis where both physically big and strong enough against Vitali to not get manhandled which allowed them to have success in close. Look at when smaller fighters get inside on Vitali, he smothers them just like Wlad does. If you can't match Wlad for strength, even if you are good enough to get inside you won't be able to get your shots off.

Work rate and Stamina are also keys to victory over Wlad. Wlad still has stamina issues, which is not surprising for a 2 metre tall 250lbs beast like Wlad. Some accuse his boring jab and grab style as a result of his need to protect his chin, but it's more than just that reason alone, it's also to ensure he doesn't have to throw too many punches. He can't fight at a high pace, much like Hopkins he has to conserve as much as he can and only unloads when he knows his opponent is ready to fold or enough rounds have passed that if he does up his work rate he won't gas late in the fight.

Durability is also key. This isn't the Wlad who fought Sanders who got jumped on, this Wlad is too smart and patient to get jumped on so easily. Unless your a heavyweight of similar size, athleticism, speed and power it's unlikely you'll get to Wlad early on in a fight. You will have to be durable enough to withstand Wlad's power and take the fight into the later rounds where if you haven't been to badly beat up then might be able to overwhelm a tiring Wlad.

Mental fortitude and patience. Wlad is a spoiler, he is very frustrating to fight, it would be easy to fold mentally and get sloppy and wild against Wlad as he slowly toys with you and picks you apart.

Lastly and most obviously, power. As we all know Wlad has a below average chin for a top heavyweight. If you are able to land and land with power then Wlad is beatable. Power of course won't mean a thing if you don't have to attributes to be able to deliver that power.

Suffice to say we won't see Wlad getting beaten anytime soon.

Can I inject a brain into a fighter?

If so, I'd like to pick the Tua from around the Ike fight. If he can get past the jab, and start whacking that left hook into Wlads body early, it spells trouble. Brewster I think was not as good as Tua at his best, buy showed what chin, determination and a good left hook can do against Wlad.

If only seen a few good body shots landed against Wlad, and from what I have seen, he doesn't cope very well. Flies backwards in urgent panic/retreat mode. and as said earlier, he really throws nothing going backwards.

Tua v Lewis was on the Kevin Barry induced slide, and only got worse afterwards.

I thought Tua was perfect to beat Lewis. Get him going backwards, to the body to drop his hands and then land something big.

However, I suspected with Barry around and a long break, he'd thrown his chance away. That was confirmed at the weigh in.
If I'm not allowed to inject the brain, then Tua stays on the end of Wlads jab looking confused for 12 rounds.

Ibeabuchi. 6'2 about 235, solid muscle, tremendous work rate (as in 80 punches a round at heavyweight, type of work rate), tremendous chin, good power, decent hand speed for a heavyweight, combination punching, can brawl or box, strong as an ox, would **** Wladimir up on the inside, all that holding and clinching **** Wlad does wouldn't be happening either, adapts/thinks figures out the other guy as the fight goes on.

If he's a smaller guy, say around 6 feet 3, 220lbs, then he needs to have very good speed and snap, very good punch evasion, and a great chin. He also needs the sort of quick in out side to side movement that allows him to stay outside Wlad's jabbing range and not get cornered or pushed to the ropes, whilst simultaneously allowing him to leap in with quick hurtful shots then dart out again before he gets clinched up. He'll need the stamina to be able to do this for several rounds, preferably the whole fight, since it should be clear now that one good shot isn't going to get the job done in most cases. Someone like Holyfield with less of a warrior mentality and more of a rhythm breaking ambush style might do the job.

If he's a larger heavyset guy, say 6 feet 4 or 5 around 240lbs, then he needs to be extremely physical durable, with good core strength and the sort of mentality that would enable him to walk through a firestorm to land his own shots. He would need to be dirty in the clinches and have the strength to push or wrestle Wlad off him, anything really to throw Wlad out of his safety zone and force him to fight. He'd need the sort of heavy hands that could really shake Wlad up without needing full extension on them, the commitment to keep throwing them (body and head) and the late rounds stamina to make those shots count when Wlad is sufficiently broken down. I'm thinking someone like a cross between Witherspoon and Foreman.

Ultimately nobody can stop everybody from fighting on the inside.

There are some ATGs, where you damn well better have a plan for dealing with them on the inside because it is going to happen.

George Foreman, Lewis, Ali, Tyson, Frazier would all beat him using differant styles.

Wlad is very good. He just doesn't take a good punch which means he fights very shaky.

If he has a reasonable ability to take a punch then I'd favour him to beat them all.

    But his chin is horrendous

Meh, his chin's not that bad. Better than Joe Louis's at any rate.

  12. If Wlad's chin is not bad
    Lewis's is pure Iron.

I say this without any bias despite being a huge Lewis fan.
Lennox got a very very underrated Chin. He took huge shots throughout his career.
Wladimir's defense is God Mode atm that's why people no longer get to his chin. A part of that is also cuz everyone outside of K2 and maybe Haye are ******s.
But Wladimir's Chin is pure glass. Samuel Peter had him down with a wild dick punch. It was some donkey dick punch.

I do agree with you that it was better then Joe Louis's.

    But only slightly

Now does Wlad's chin being pure glass means he's gonna lose? Of course not. But the fact remind, this is the only time I agree with the chin checkers on this site.
One well aimed punch and he's on the canvas.

Did Haye put Wlad on the canvas with his first well aimed punch? Or his second? Or third?

Wlad's "glass chin" is one of the biggest myths of modern boxing and one which numerous opponents, fans and bookmakers have believed to their ultimate detriment.

There are some and those are the one's I pick to beat wlad.

I just don't believe jack is one of them.

Louis, tyson, frazier, foreman, bowe. These guys would all cause wlad damage on the inside. It would take a huge effort preventing them getting there. Frazier and tyson can slip their way in. Mike has more power, accuracy and speed but joe has a high workrate and great stamina. These two I slightly favour.

Bowe, lewis and foreman all walk him down and stop him early.

Louis, if anyone can time a jab over the top it's him. Give him 1 shot and he'll take it imo.

As one other guy said, the only people beating wlad on the outside are ali and larry.

  15. The punches that Sanders Peter and Brewster landed was not even big punches.

Maybe you are right. Wladimir do not have a glass chin.

Wladimir got a glass gravitational balance
