Not that surprising really, I think Rocky needs progression and he wasn't getting that under Frank.

    .....................................................................................................................................

Rocky Fielding has signed promotional terms with Matchroom Sport and Eddie Hearn.

The Prizefighter Super Middleweight II champion will fight for new promoter Hearn on July 7 as part of the exciting undercard of Kell Brook’s IBF welterweight clash with Carson Jones at the Motorpoint Arena Sheffield.

Fielding burst onto the scene when he clinched the Prizefighter title in March 2011 in his hometown of Liverpool, stopping all three opponents to lift the trophy, turning from 3-0 novice to Merseyside hero live on Sky Sports.

‘Rocky from Stocky’ has fought just four times since his dream night at the Liverpool Olympia, with just one fight in 2012, and the 24 year old, who has a massive fan base in the boxing crazy city of Liverpool, expressed his delight at joining Hearn’s growing and busy stable.

“I’m really excited about the future now I’ve signed with Eddie and Matchroom Sport,” said Fielding. “I won Prizefighter live on Sky Sports and that was a dream night for me, so to be back on Sky is fantastic.

“Eddie is putting on big shows all over Britain and they are all really great bills. I want to be fighting in huge shows in Liverpool and I know that’s the plan Eddie has in mind for me, so I need to hit the ground running in Sheffield with a big performance.”

  2. I'm not sure progression was his main concern.... But apparently getting paid was..

    I don't want a law suit...

4 very easy fights in just over a year was obviously not good for him though, most prizefighter champions go on to fight for other belts quite quickly after winning it.

At most Rocky is English title stage , with the division as stacked as it is his promotion company need to be picky and careful at the moment , another 12 months and he will be ready to start kicking on , its not like he's set the world alight after PF is it ??

He's progressing nicely , he should continue that under MR , but I'm a little skeptical of MR's ability to nurture a prospect as oppose to matching contenders , we'll see how that one pans out

He's had 1 fight this year, difficult to set the world alight if you arent fighting, prior to that he was out in October (7months ago) thats not good for someone learning the trade and more importantly earning money!

Those who know the cities fighters and the current picture know where Rocky is , he was outstanding in PF , theres no taking that away it was his night , but he's not anywhere close to British title stage ................... yet !!!

For those who had never heard of him pre PF , you would be expecting fireworks and rightly so based off PF , Rocky isn't going to deliver fireworks yet , so its a watch and waiting game , preferably for him (as a fan) away from the spotlight , because he's still got a long way to go

    A few things here,

I certainly dont know him in detail, only from what I have seen and heard on here!
Fighting once in 7 months isnt going to help anyone and it isnt going to earn any money.

Who said he was anywhere near British stage?

Even as a developing fighter, he needs more than 4 journeyman fights in 12 months.

Why would Frank ****** be assed over Rocky Fielding anyway. He's got he potential of a boiled egg..

His standard dropped since Prize Fighter, he looked ok then......shades of Kelly Pavlik.

At 10 & 0 people begin to talk area and British title's , specially after Rocky's blitzkrieg in PF , i agree he's not out enough , and you didn't mention British title's but i thought that was the tone of the conversation :D

My post was a response was to " most prizefighter champions go on to fight for other belts quite quickly after winning it. " which you duly responded too

Prizefighter aside he's only ever fought journeyman , in the next 12 months i imagine he'll begin to step up his opposition , but ill reiterate , Rocky isn't ready for a sizeable step up , i have a bad feeling MR promotions may not recognise this and match him badly , there's plenty of boobies at SMW for Rocky to run into !!
