I dont really get your point in this post, but my point is that Lewis became a more consistent winner and fighter. The level of competition, for the most part in his title reigns, remained the same, he just became better equipped to deal with it under Emanuel Steward.

The ring was smaller, but I cant imagine Lewis fighting the same type of fight. There would be a lot more holding and clinching then infighting and brawling like we saw. I would even give Lewis a good chance of stopping Mercer instituting the style he adapted under Steward.

nor can I, that's what I meant. He slugged with Mercer because the ring was so small, he couldn't circle and jab because he didn't have the space.

Even in a small ring he would held and clinched, he became very good at that under Steward.

I've reread your posts, i get what you're saying and I agree. I turned over two pages at one there I think.

  6. Great thread.

Bowe in 93 was probably more advanced then Lewis in 93

but Lewis was the superior feline and when he smells the inferior *****

    he will go **** it

bowe would have beat lewis in 93, rock newman destroyed part of his legacy. if people actually watch the olympic final they would know bowe was cheated.

I sometimes wonder if perhaps Lewis hadn't looked so devastating against Ruddock, that Bowe's people might have been more inclinded to making the fight.

I knew something was up, having seen the Olympic final. But I also agree, that Lennox would get beat in the 92-93 time period, afterwards it's Lennox to lose.

To those saying Bowe wins, it's a shame Rock Newman and Riddick himself didn't share your confidence :deal

    Lennox would stop him.

I agree Bowe in 93 would dominate Lewis in my opinion. Bowe would
outjab Lewis, and beat Lewis to the uppercut on the inside. Bowe
KO 6. Prime for Prime Bowe KO 9. I believe Bowe had better technical
skills, better power, could brawl better, and had a slightly better
uppercut and a chin that was worlds better than Lewis. That being
said Prime Lewis was a formidable opponent, a force to be reckoned
With who could box and Brawl. Lennox has his moments and even
outjabs Bowe for a round or 2, and scores big with his own
powershots. Bowe can take Lewis best shots, Lewis cannot take
Bowe's best shots. Prime for Prime, Bowe leads 6 to 2 going into
the 9th. Then, in the inside Bowe lands the best uppercut of his
career and Lennox retreats against the ropes, and a slugfest ensues
with Bowe getting rocked, then Bowe lands the left hook to
wobble Lennox again, then Big Daddy lands the overhand right
and its lights out. Prime for Prime Bowe KO9.

Cheated? It was the type of stoppage you see in the amateurs all the time. It was Bowe's second standing count and he was looking very shook up, admittedly not a stoppage in the pro's but acceptable in the am's.

Bowe won a lively first and was catching Lewis. Lennox came out and overpowered him in the second round. No one was cheated.

at the time i would have went with bowe. with hindsight lewis was beter, he grew on me. for all his flaws lewis was just beter. holyfeild was still finding his feet as a heayweight when bowe beat him and like buster douglas bowe was never that good again. how can we asume bowe could be that good twice when he was only ever that good once? when they did fight lewis won. with hindsight bowe over acheived against evander nothing else he ever did equaled that. the 3rd fight bowe got lucky when holyfeild stopped fighting. it was more a case of evander losing than bowe winning. talk about taking a win from the jaws of defeat!

lewis was quite ruthless, worse than a scorned woman at times. Boy did he carry a grudge! he realy did not like bowe, he would have been fireing on all cylinders against bowe, lewis would have brought his a-game for sure. sure lewis got caught out when he had no respect for a guy but bowe would be a key fight.

The bottom line is who won their key fights. apart from against holyfeild lewis always delivered in key fights ruddock, tucker, golotta, grant the rematches mcall and rahman. for bowe to beat lewis we would have to relegate lewis to the level of the guys bowe DID beat and lewis was a lot beter than all of them.

bowes key fights were tubbs, holyfeild x3, hide, golotta x2 its not as good.

Bowe having a sturdier chin than Lewis is a myth based on Lewis' higher quality of faced opposition . Had Bowe faced McCall and Rahman by d same times Lewis faced each 1 of them , it is highly probable that he'd end d same .
Lewis faced better opposition than Bowe despite being a protected fighter himself . Few successful fighters in history were unprotected fighters .
Prime4prime IDK how it'd end , but i tend 2 favor Lewis slightly here .
I doubt that Bowe outinfights Lewis and i doubt even more that he'd outjab him . Yet I don't confidently rule these out either .
With d historical rivalry between them i believe that a fight between them will b a positive fight , sooner than later .

I'd agree with u , but taking in2 consideration just d following fight in which Bowe barely (and perhaps undeservedly) got by Miroschnichenko , d stoppage against Lewis is made 2 look like a robbery , but then maybe d referee/some1 else started Cing a tragedy waiting 2 happen in Bowe .
